  1. I'm looking to get a new baitcaster from $100-150. It has to be a powerful reel with smooth drag (Will be used for salmon and steelhead). So basically what do you guys pair with your heavy rods?
  2. Also any one who would like to get into fishing for steelhead feel free to ask any questions you may have. I will do my best to answer them and help you out!
  3. Nice chrome! Do you only use flies or do you also use skein?
  4. I suggest you make a trip It's worth it! Just to warn you after you catch your first one you will most likely will become addicted lol.
  5. I was using 1/8 ounce tear drop jig heads. It depends how fast the current is but the heavier you go the more stuff you usually snag and loose.
  6. I was at Squaw Island all day, Smoke shad tube jigs and crankbaits were producing the best.
  7. The steelhead are staring to show up in the Lower Niagara!!! Any other steelheaders on this forum?
  8. People don't believe you can catch salmon on lures? On the Lower Niagara the most popular thing to use is J-13 plugs and huge spoons.
  9. Steelhead,Salmon, and lake trout. If you haven't caught a steelhead or a salmon before I suggest you make an effort to. A small 25'' steelhead will make fighting a 6-7 pound smallie seem easy. When you hook into a big steelhead you just watch your line disappear and pray the line doesn't break.
  10. Had an ok day on Friday. Had a great morning bite on tubes and crank baits but it fizzed out as noon approached.
  11. Just checked them out I defiantly will be making an order!
  12. I'll be shure to check em out. Thanks!
  13. I'm planning on going to squaw island in the morning till late afternoon depending on how things go. I'll be the guy with a camo fishing hat.
  14. Thanks for the greetings every one. This forum is awesome!!!
  15. Any thing with a hula skirt seems to do the trick. Cranks and spinners also produce quite nicely.
  16. Sadly i'm stuck on the bank for the rest of the season but occasionally i'll take the boat out on the river. Theirs a nice spot where the canal enters the river. Fishing off the break wall is also a nice place to go.
  17. I'm heading to the upper river on Friday. I'll let you know how I do!
  18. Thanks for the responses! But i'm looking for Lake Eire stuff (Tube's,Hula grubs,Reapers, ect) I should have mentioned that in the post my mistake!
  19. I have fished Lake Erie my whole life. I personally use a leader of fluorocarbon coated P-Line either 8-10lb on 30lb braid. I have used regular fluorocarbon but It seemed to break more fish off. But this is mostly a personal preference thing just experiment and find out what you like!
  20. Any one have any suggestions or reviews on hand poured soft baits or a good website to buy them? I'm sick of buying plastics that are made in china, I would rather support a US based company! Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! I'm looking for Lake Erie stuff (Tube's, Hula Grubs,Reapers, ect)
  21. Hello, I'm an avid freshwater angler, Fishing is my life! I fish all year round Smallies in the summer, and Steelhead in the winter. I'm from Marilla New York(25 miles from Buffalo) and usually fish Lake Erie or the upper/lower Niagara river. I recently started a small fishing club called AssAssin Angling (hence the name) I would love to share tip's/techniques and experiences. Have a nice day Y'all
