Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
Anyone plan on getting out anywhere this weekend? I was thinking of doing a little pond hopping/shore fishing. Is everything frozen or is there any open water?

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
Went out last Monday and caught a 3lb 12oz 'er on a Spro Lil john in about 4 ft of water. Tried everything else with nothing doing. (Jigs/jerks/spinnerbaits/etc...)

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
I went out this morning and got skunked. Went down to the standing timber below Sandy run. Got a decent bite on a jig but the fish missed the hook. Had a fish nudge my hudd 68 but didnt want to eat it. Sounds like I went the wrong direction

Tips For A Fist Time Musky Fisherman
My main target will start out targeting bass but switch to muskie. I want to throw bigger baits for the bass since the water is usually clear but dont want to loose them haha. I am going to start using a leader and change if I dont get any bites. I am definitely going to use them on baits $50+ .

Tips For A Fist Time Musky Fisherman
My hudd is rigged with 65lb braid on the Butch Brown rig and I didnt know if I would have to redo it. The only toothy creatures I catch are Northern Snake heads. Ive caught a 12lber with 10lb floro. I dont really know anything about musky. I found some floro leaders while doing some research. What would yall recommend?

Tips For A Fist Time Musky Fisherman
Thanks for your input guys. Im going to start out with either an 8" Savage gear line thru swimbait or a 8" hudd. Going to be throwing some bigger top water such as a lunker punker as well. From what I understand I have to use a leader to prevent tooth damage to the line. What would be the best kind without effecting the action? Would 65lb braid work?

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
Over the past week fishing has slowed for me. Caught a few on a swimbait here and there. Nothing much going on. Thinking about trying Burke Lake for some musky as the water temp drops.

Tips For A Fist Time Musky Fisherman
I just found out that a local lake stocks musky annually. As the winter creeps up I wanted to shift my attention to the new found resource. I dont know anything about musky fishing really except for trolling is a major technique used. As a bass fisherman I mostly chuck bigger swimbaits, various top water lures, and crankbaits. Any tips or suggestions for a starting spot would be greatly appreciated. Tight lines.

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
I caught more catfish in the Potomac on cranks than I have bass. I also dedicated myself to jig fishing this year. Althought it may be challenging at times it is a great skill to have. Just try to match the hatch with your jig skirt and style. I have started to hand tye my own jigs to better adapt to the situation. Id recommend a light purple and white swim jig with a baby swimming fluke as a trailer since the shad activity is increasing (shhhh. Its a secret) or maybe a heavier 3/4oz blue gill color (green pumpkin, orange, and a little bit of purple and black.) The biggest thing is watching your line constantly.

Clear Vs Stained Water
I love fishing in the chocolate milk. Ive caught more big fish including my PB in water with only inches of visibility.

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
Saturday launched out of lake ridge and got 5 keepers for about 12lbs on football head jigs. Sunday caught two dinks on a swim jig. Im starting to see bass suspended and schooled up. I wanna start throwing the A-Rig. Has anyone had any luck with em in the rez?

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
My dad and I spent about 8hrs out there with only 7 bass and a 5lb catfish to show for it. All fish were caught on jigs that I hand tied.

As I believe it was mentioned earlier fish the spots that are named on the map first (jacobs rock, nates point, sandy run etc.) However, the rez is a huge place and has many different spots that fit almost any style of fishing. At some point I would like to get a group together and fish together. Possibly have a little bass resource tourney.

Anyone Hit The Occoquan Reservoir Lately?
Went out Thursday with a friend and we caught 13 or so combined including the chunk in the my picture. The water was really clear. Went out today with my dad and we caught two a piece. Fishing was tougher today but the and the water clouded up a little. The biggins look like they are coming out to play as the water cools a bit
