  1. Thanks RW. How would you suggest fishing the Baby Craw -- weightless, weighted swim hook, other? Thanks.
  2. Most instructions I've read of how to tie a clinch knot, or even an "improved" clinch knot, don't include tying a square knot on the tag end. I've found that snugging the square knot against the main knot prevents any possibility that the tag end will slip through, so that the knot doesn't fail when you need it most. Thoughts?
  3. Looking for lure suggestions and techniques for catching Smallies in the Spring River in Arkansas -- a shallow, spring-fed, cold, extremely clear river. Thanks!
  4. If you're talking Oakley and Costa, might as well throw Maui Jim in the mix. About the same price point and a good option -- particularly if you need prescription shades.
  5. I haven't fished it yet, so I'd like to get some feedback posts also.
  6. I fished Neshoba for an hour late this afternoon -- first time there. Caught two 2-pounders and missed another on a 1/2 oz football jig with a Rage Tail Claw trailer. Did all my fishing along the bank nearest the road near the culverts. Anyone have any tips on fishing this pond?
  7. I've only used the JP ponds near the entrance for swimming my Golden, but I know there's also a pond or two closer to the boardwalk and the very large pond down a paved path on left once you enter the park . Which of the lakes hold fish?
  8. Hey guys. What do ya'll think about making a running list of local fishing holes for us bank-beaters? I'm new to the forum, but the ponds I either know about or have read about here are (in no particular order)... Neshoba Park Grove Park Shelby Farms Park Day Care West Clinic Collierville Community Ctr. Herb Parsons #1 Pond Humphres Blvd. ponds Others??? Please be sure that any fishing spots listed are open to the public, or otherwise describe how to obtain permission to fish a private location. It would be helpful also to post frequent updates on catches, baits, water conditions, etc. Thanks!
  9. Yep, the old days of one all-around rod are long past -- and the manufacturers and retailers are loving it! I was thinking of a multi-purpose workhorse rod (Premier vs. Avid) before I add a specialty crankbaiter and such. You know, if the boat is going down and you could only grab one rod... I appreciate everyone's input!!
  10. Hey Pater. Ditto for me and my Collierville kids. I only beat you to the site by a few days. My wife is much more understanding when my kids are with me in tow to a fishing hole!
  11. I'm considering a 7' MHF in either the Premier or Avid as my "go to" baitcasting rod for fishing plastics, jigs and spinnerbaits. The Avid cost around $70 more than the Premier at BPS. For those that have experience using both of these rods, how do they compare? Any suggestions for online shopping for St. Croix rods compared to BPS prices? Thanks!
  12. New jig fisherman here -- but have thrown T-rugged worms for years. Question: What are the advantages of fishing a jig with a claw trailer as compared to just T-rigging the claw?
  13. Thanks Jeff. Assume it's OK to park in the daycare lot? Let me know if you still want to meet up sometime and let me demo one of your Avids. I threw a friend's Premier this weekend and liked it. Jamey
  14. Hello All -- new member here! Thanks to Jeff for telling me about this site when we met at Grove a few days back. I fished Collierville CC this morning, but there's water weeds along the entire bank to around 15-20 ft out. I resorted to throwing a frog on top, but no luck. Where is the daycare pond I read about here? Anyone fished it lately? Thanks!
