Tell Me About Fast Gears
For worm and jig fishing, use the rod to move the bait at whatever pace you want. Use the higher speed reel to move the line (take up the slack quickly).

Advice On St. Croix Avid For Small To Medium Cranks
Looking for advice from Avid users for the best rod to throw shallow to medium-diving crankbaits, square bills, and lipless -- all 1/2 oz and less. I have a 7 ft MHF Avid and love it for worms, jigs and spinnerbaits. I don't care for "noodly" rods at all, and wondering if the MHM, MM or maybe even MF is a good choice for the cranks. Basically, I'm looking for lighter backbone than the MH but wanting to avoid the "whippy" factor. Thanks!

Lew's Baitcast Reels : Favorite Reels For Which Applications ?
I've checked out the new Lews reels on TW's website (only pre-orders for now). I can't tell much difference between the new Tournament MG vs the Tournament Pro, except that the Pro costs $60 more. Any insights? Is Lews just getting more competive pricing with the new stuff?

Senko Help
4/0 EWG unweighted works best for me. The right length to pass hook through the worm mid-section and to give worm best action on a slack-line fall.

Good idea RW - cause pic or it didn't happen! I caught one on a rage-rigged Bug yesterday ... but it was only a "monsterwannabe"!

Fishing the Toad is a trip! Throw it out there, get it on plane, and then imagine the contrails of a twin engine jet -- but on the water, if that makes any sense.

Magnetic Braking System Endurance
What's your experience on the endurance of MBS's on baitcasters? Do the magnets tend to hold their power over time or do they weaken?

To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
Another tough morning at Grove today. One bite on a Senko but nothing on a Rage Toad or swim jig. Have to admit though that it was fun fishing the Toad for the first time, but it would've been more fun with a LMB crushing it!

To All My Memphis Pond Hoppers!
Good to see everyone and to meet new Grovesters (thunderstorm or not!). Two weeks ago on an early morning outing I bagged 3 nice ones (2 in the 4-6+ lb range) within about 20 minutes on a black weightless Senko. Unusually good bite on for me that day, but plenty to keep Grove on my radar! Any good bites for anyone at Neshoba lately?
