  1. I apologize for not being a NH guy, technically I was born in NH at Wentworth Douglass, and I live 10 minutes north of Rochester, but I just wanted to say hello Shane. I saw you at the grand opening of the Hooksett bass pro and couldn't help but notice your rage tail apparel. Just curious to your affiliation with the products?
  2. Thanks for your advice Wayne! I sent off my transom mount transducer to HB in exchange for the Wide DI 20. Good thing I did to, because I over looked the fact that the transom transducer doesn't have the narrow cone for fishing structure underneath the boat.
  3. I get the feeling I should just go without my sonar for a few weeks and swap out the transducers, instead of just hurrying to get on the water with it.
  4. I am aware of those, I just don't have the extra $100 right now, so for the time being I'd rather mount the stock transducer.
  5. Probably confused by my question, but im not finding an easier way to ask. Basically the transducer mounts on the transom with the skinny end further away from the boat, this I know. When mounting to the trolling motor does it face the same way, or does it need to be spun around?
  6. Spot on here^ In the late winter I fill up my bathtub and submerge all of my jerkbaits individually and see which ones float to the top, or sink to the bottom, and adjust the baits as needed. Thank baby jesus for making suspend dots and other lure customizing tackle.
  7. Another important factor to keep in mind is the size line you are using. If you like using 6 or 8lb line you'd have to stay away from heavy wire hooks as the hook will be too strong for the line and break even the strongest knots with ease. Most hook manufacturers sell both styles of hooks now a days, just be sure your line size is appropriate for the hook your going to buy.
  8. It is based on your credit FYI. I had a buddy who tried to do a 6 pay on a trolling motor for $700 and they called him after he placed the order and told him he was declined, due to the credit check that they ran.
  9. IMO Gander has more of a selection, however DSG usually has a handful of the newest high end rods on the market, but not many of them. I have also noticed that depending on your "local" DSG selection varies. Some DSG's that I have been to had Loomis rods and Shimano Stella reels, other stores have had mostly field and stream rods and reels.
  10. For me throwing jigs and swimbaits require minimally a MH rod-- a good part of the time i'll throw em on a heavy action rod as well. The way I see it is you lose nothing other than finesse by using heavier rods, which in the case of swim jigs and swimbaits isn't necessary. Finesse baits require light action rods because it requires the fisherman to implement most of the action with the rod. If its too heavy the rod will just drag the bait through the water without letting the lure perform it's designed action. Swim jigs with trailers, as well as swimbaits create their own action when being reeled in, therefore don't require a forgiving rod to create their action. Plus im fishing both baits around pretty gnarly cover and if I do load up, I wanna make sure I have the power to bring him to the boat.
  11. How will you mount the push pole to the boat?
  12. I love using my GoPro in my boat when I am bass fishing, however I am looking to achieve the aerial shots that I have seen some guys capturing on youtube and other sites. I have a painters pole that I mounted my GoPro to and I can get underwater footage up to 18ft deep. I have seen some people mount cameras on a pole in the back of the boat and I was wondering if anyone here has done this.
  13. Haven't missed an episode of Howard Stern in probably 10+ years now. Sirius was a must have when I bought a new boat.
  14. D&M Piranha Swim Jig is my go to vibrating jig as well. My biggest reasons why I like them are basically what everyone else has said, plus they come in heavier sizes than other companies models which allows me to fish it deeper in the water column. Still haven't had a skirt fall off or slide down a piranha swim jig yet after a couple seasons of fishing with them.
  15. Glad to say that I got a phone call from the GM of the Marina and he has graciously made the situation right by me. I called and left a message and a few days later he called and made sure that I was properly taken care of. As I stated in my op, being in the customer service business it's rare and unexpected to never have things go wrong with the products you are selling. It's how you handle the processes that make a big difference. I was glad they called and apologized. I would love to use them in the future, but felt I couldn't because of the way my first experience went. Now I feel comfortable in knowing that if things at Roland Martin's Marina don't go as they should, they will have my back as a customer. I don't expect things to go poorly again when I return, but if they do I know the staff will treat me fairly.
  16. Yikes. A bit too far, dang. Good luck out there!
  17. Anyone willing to take an avid bass fisherman from Maine out on the water? I will gladly pay for gas and lunch. I am leaving soon and want to do some serious fishing before I go. I have all my own equipment ready to go.
  18. How far is that from Sarasota? I am trying to find someone to take me fishing tomorrow, but I'm visiting from Maine staying in Sarasota.
  19. What town do you live in Mainebass? Our club fishes all local lakes (moose in bridgton, Kezar, little Sebago, arrowhead, pleasant lake in Casco, big Sebago) our tournament entry fees are very low and we have tons of fun.
  20. Unfortunately it was a one shot deal being that I came down from Maine. Renting the boat was $100 less than a guide. Without question I should have chosen to go with a guide, however when you live in Maine and don't make a ton of money cutting corners becomes a necessisity in some areas. I am not sure that a letter would ever find its way to the owners, however It won't stop me from trying.
  21. Bass boat rentals come with 2 fish finders according to their advertising page, they didn't know they advertised that until I told them. The one fish finder it did come with was busted and they knew it when they sent me out. The depth never read more than 4ft, which never having been on the lake I thought I was just fishing in the shallow areas. GPS was non-functional as well. I never ran the boat faster than headway speed in fear that I would have to replace a prop. By the time I idled out to a spot I checked to see if the GPS was functional seeings that I marked a way point at the marina, and I got nothing. When I returned the boat the gentleman who checked it over for its proper return told me that the fish finder was broken and they should probably get around to fixing it. I shared my feelings with the manager in the politest of manners, and he said he was sorry I felt that way and continued on into his office. Im sure 9 out of 10 times the marina is a good deal for fisherman, it's just disappointing to be in the minority when it costs over $1500 including airfare and gas to get there from Maine. Im not trying to bash the Marina, as I said before I am sure it was just a rare accurance, none the less unfortunate. Managed to catch a few dinks, that was all.
