  1. Hey guys….so here's the deal. I had reached my limit with trying to diagnose my reel. I tried one last time to just take it apart and try to find where the friction was coming from. Somehow, this fixed it. I really appreciate the comments above. However, I'm not really sure exactly how I fixed it. But man am I glad I did! The reel feels good as new. I think .RM. was pretty close to diagnosing the problem because I made a slight bend to the little contraption that holds the brakes. Thanks to all who replied and I look forward to learning a lot on this forum.
  2. I'd love any ideas guys. I have pinpointed the area of friction to be between the reel casing on the left side and the centrifugal weight system. I figured this out by detaching both and attempting to spin the spool in the disk on the inside of the left reel casing (proper name?). This caused the exact same friction pattern. Any ideas how to fix this?
  3. Also, I removed the anti-reverse pawl (some posts said this causes problems). Nothing changed so I put it back in the correct position. I'm wondering if the spool itself is bent. This seems unlikely though because of the lack of use. I'm really just at a loss.
  4. Correct it is the Shimano Curado 200G7. I can give any other information needed. Just let me know.
  5. Hello Everyone, I am new to the forum so forgive me if this isn't in the right spot. However, I have a Shimano bait caster that I was given a year ago. Because of how busy I was this last year, I used it once (5 casts). Then, the reel started making a strange clicking sound. It is almost like it starts and stops, hitting some sort of part that causes the resistance. I am not super familiar with the parts terminology. However, I have taken the reel apart several times and cleaned, degreased, relubed, etc. The problem really only occurs when I close the case of the reel covering the centrifugal braking system. To be more clear, I will leave the side open exposing the brakes. This allows the spool to spin freely and feel very smooth. When I close and lock the case, problem reoccurs. I'm kinda stumped and really don't want to pay the $35 or whatever if it is simply a small alignment fix. I can take pictures or whatever as needed to help explain. I would appreciate any help I can get! Franky
