  1. most of the lakes I fish are electric only. It can take over an hour to get to a spot on some of the lakes. It gets really annoying, but I figure it's better than not being able to fish it at all. There's one lake it's only open to rowing. The lake is pretty big, but is like a wildlife bird sanctuary or something. Regardless of the regulations, I am just glad they let us fish the lakes.
  2. I make a lot of molds at home. I use plaster of paris to make them. You can watch some youtube videos on it, but here are my steps. 1. line a barbeque tin with aluminum foil 2. use gel super glue to glue your bait to the foil. I make my prototypes out of modeling clay. but you can also mold plastic worms. 3. After the super glue dries, pour plaster of paris over the baits 4. When dry, remove mold from barbeque tin, and carefully remove the baits from the plaster of paris. You will likely have to touch up the mold with a small knife. 5. There are many ways to seal the cavities, but I found to use a two part epoxy lasts the longest. That will make you an open pour mold. Just melt some plastic and pour away!
  3. I fish club tournaments on the Susquehanna a lot, but further south. Biggest thing to key in on is current breaks: Islands, rock ledges, humps, deposits of sand/small rocks ouside a creek. Best baits for spring time are smaller tubes (I like cabin creek), spinnerbaits, senkos, poppers. That stretch of the river is pretty far north, its gotta be some shallow water, but i havent fished it. x2 on giving Mike and George a call. They'll tell you what's up.
  4. Wallmart batteries haven't failed me and you can return them if they do within 2 years.
  5. I'm a jon boat guy. I've fished from kayaks and yes you can fish more creeks and rivers with a kayak. But on the flip side, a jon boat with a small outboard will get you where you wanna go on some of the larger lakes. You can get a pretty good fishing jon boat on craigslist for under $700 (boat, motor, trailer). If your taxes are like mine in PA, you will another $200 or so. If you wanna take it to the next level you can add onto it a lot, and customize it. I bought mine for $650, and that leaves plenty of room to add onto it. Also jon boats hold their value VERY well. Just need to look the entire boat over and look at the paperwork. All in all, it has to do with your preferences. If taking a buddy is important then that alone screams jon boat. If there are a lot of good creeks and shallow rivers you like to fish kayaks are where its at. If you wanna get it some local jackpot tournaments a jon boat can be used. Take a look through craigslist and see if there are any decent deals right now. You might find something you like.
