Florida Guys Check In Here.
Came down to Buena Vista for the weekend to hit Universal Studios. I decided to go out yesterday while my girlfriend and kids were swimming at the Nickelodeon Hotel. There's a small pond that you have to jump a fence but it was worth it. I caught a bass on almost every cast with a bluegill scatter rap. Not nothing too big but still fun. Then some kids stated to walk up to the fence screaming gator which I seen myself before I jumped the fence. But I decided to end my day before anyone from the hotel came over to run me off. This is a bass fisherman's dream with the thousands of ponds and lakes here. I wish I had a vacation home here just to stay and fish full time.

Rapala Scatter Rap Crank
I bought one a month ago and just started using it this weekend. Needless to say I should of been fishing it a long time ago. I caught 6 Saturday with it after throwing a few other baits with nothing. I went out this morning and caught a 5 pounder on my third cast and caught another 4 in 30 minutes on it. I was fishing it at another location and hooked a nice 4 pounder with it but lost the fish on a jump about 2ft from me. I figured it just came unhooked but I was looking at the bait and the hook was missing. The split ring was bent enough for the hook to pop out. My question is what kind of split ring is the best to use. I found some red Gamakatsu #4 hooks and the only split rings I could find was eagle claw #5(looks kinda big to me).

Went out around 10 this morning flipping a 10 inch ribbon tail worm in the pads and caught around 6. Tied my chatter bait on and caught 3 more before I got it hung up on a lily pad and broke off. The biggest was 3.11 and the smallest was 2lbs. Just glad I got another set of scales on hand.

When I'm fishing retention ponds I usually fish parallel to the bank a few feet off the bank. I also catch them around the culvet pipes or in the corners of the pond. Most of the time they like to hide in the grass to ambush smaller fish. I'm sure they're bigger fish in that pond. I've fished a local pond a few times a week for over a year and just caught the biggest I've seen yet a few weeks ago.

Yeah I know he's 5+ who ever thinks it's less is smoking crack lol. She was around 27 inches, punching the camera makes it look bigger but the camera man was at least 10ft away. My arm is just over 2ft and the fish was longer than it. I've caught one a year ago that was 28inches and it was thinner through the back. It weighed 6.2. There's 13 inches between the fin and mouth.

Chatter Bait
Thanks for the info guys and yeah I'm using a baby brush hog. I've never seen anybody talking about using those for a chatter bait trailer but it works great for me. But out of the twelve I've caught in two days with it, only two have shook it. I guess I'll live with that and add more pressure if one does jump.

Tanks In Miramar
I guess I've should of read my DOCS when I first moved in. I've been passing up some ponds in my HOA community because half of it had houses on it. I tried one pond one day and a woman came to her window and was giving me funny looks across the pond, so I just left. I've took it out a few times and glanced at it but it's about 300 pages of rules.

Chatter Bait
Thanks but yeah, I'm keeping good pressure on the fish and I tried to keep the fish down as much as possible. But watching the one get away this morning has got me wondering what I can do. Is there any technique I can do when the fish jumps up and shakes it's head? I've seen guys catching tarpon and they point the rod at the fish and bow.

Chatter Bait
I'm just wondering if they're anyway I can bend the hook on the bait to keep the bass from shaking it out there mouth. Just started fishing these yesterday and I'm loving it. I had a nice one to get away this morning.
