Water pressure gauge?
Long Mike- Outboards have water cooling ports just like automobile engines. The impeller pumps water from the foot of the motor thru the powerhead or engine block just like the water pump of your car. The water pressure gauge is connected to the powerhead to indicate the pressure inside the powerhead, the lake is the radiator. It is not a closed system like on your car. On the outboards I have owned, after the engine is warm( thermostat is open) the gauge reads 0-5 psi at idle. At wot the gauge reads 15-25 psi. The gauge is not connected to the pee hole, it is connected to the engine block. It is normal for the pressure to be higher when you first start the outboard( cold engine ) and for it to drop when the engine warms( thermostat opens ). The pressure during the time is normally below 10 psi. I'm not an outboard mech but I hope this helps. When Way2slow reads this post I feel sure he can explain in far more detail. Hope this helps...............Al

Broken Bionic Blade
The BPS where I work (Sevierville, Tn) will replace a BPS rod for 1 year from sale. There is a code on each BPS rod that provides the month/year of manufacture. It is located next to the info on the butt end of the rod and very easy to overlook. It is a letter and number, for example A5 would translate to Jan 2005, B6 to Feb 2006, etc......................Al

Transducer poll (fiberglass)
You can purchase a thru hull transducer with an external temp probe so you can read the temp at the console, if you don't mind spending another $50-$60. I ordered one from Lowrance. I was told after the fact that Lowrance would give you an allowance for the transducer that came with the unit if you want to replace with a transducer with an external temp probe. If your unit is a Lowrance here is a link. www.lei-extras.com Good luck...................Al

Gear ratio for crankbaits
I agree with Fivebasslimit, the David Fritts 4.7:1 is perfect for me. The 3.8:1 Curado was just not fast enough to get the big crankbaits down, and a lot of effort to keep them there. The 4.7:1 works very well for me......................Al

allison boats
If I were in the market for a rocketship to fish from I would look at a Bullet or Norriscraft. Both are fast and have a good reputation for fishability. All of these boats get a little more air time than this old body of mine can take, therefor I chose Champion........Al

Transducer poll (fiberglass)
I recently installed a gps/sonar unit and I epoxyed the transducer unit to shoot thru the hull. It is easy to due if you have easy access to your bildge area. The entire project took about 2 hours to install and 24 hours curing time. After installation you should be thru with transducer problems until your next upgrade. Not so sure of the transom mounts especially if your boat is a 65+MPH boat........................Al

allison boats
I live about 25 miles from the Allison factory so there are a few around this area. However I can't remember ever seeing anyone fishing from one. In fact it is rare to see one with a trolling motor on it. I have seen several racing up and down the lake, usually in pairs. They are rockets!!!........................Al

Backing question?
It doesn't matter what you use for backing. I do not join the two lines together. I put the backing on and then tie on the main line as if you had an empty spool rather than tieing the two lines together................................Al

What Lines are yall jig fishing with?
I must be the exception. I have been flipping with 20lb florocarbon for about 5 years and love it. I haven't had any problems. The only time I fish braid is when I'm fishing a lake with a lot of weeds.....................Al

Ideas on a good spinning reel
I would at least look and feel the Pflueger Supreme. The reel only is only 7 or 8 oz and feels great($99.95). The weight alone is enough to justify a good look..............Al

Mattlures baby bass problem?
I have the same problem with the baby bass. I noticed the line tie is covered with rubber/plastic (like overspray) and have been meaning to clean this off to see if it helps or corrects the problem. Has anyone done that?........................Al I'll also try the loop knot....Thanks

New Spinning Reel
I have been very pleased with the Symetre as well. But my next spinning reel purchase will be the Pflueger Supreme. This is a very light reel and feedback I have received at BPS has been very positive. However this reel sells at 99.95............Al

Stinger for mattlures bluegill
I added a split ring and size 2 treble. I buried one point of the treble into the bait leaving two points exposed rather than leaving the treble dangling as on a crankbait. I have not had hang up problems so far. However, there are no weeds in the lakes I normally fish................Al

Jig trailers???
I used the Zoom super chunk for years until a buddy gave me a pack of Paca chunk sr's. I'm sold on the paca chunks now. The movement of the flippers when the jig is falling sold me and I have a lot more hits while retreiving the lure. The paca chunks add a lot of action to a falling or swimming jig...............Al

Baby Paca Craws WOW !
Skeeterman, when this bait moves thru the water the flippers move back and forth as though the bait is swimming. It works when falling on a jig or when swimming a jig. Works very good on a c-rig also. It is the best action I've seen on a craw type bait.............Al
