  1. Hello everybody, im hoping to head up to the classic tomorrow to check out the expo and weigh in, and was wondering if there were any good deals like there were last year. I remember in the Dick's Sporting Goods booth they were selling a Skeet Reese combo with a bunch of throw-ins for a reasonable price and was wondering if there is anything similar this year.
  2. After using my Jon boat now for a couple of months, I think it would be very useful to have a front casting deck on the boat. My Jon boat is a 1032 tracker and here is what it looks like: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/138521-10-foot-jon-boat-modifications/ . Since I am only about 130, standing on the back deck that I made is a breeze and it is very stable. Now I would like to add a front casting deck that goes from the middle bench seat to the front bench seat. Has anyone done this on such a small boat? Does anybody have pictures of decks they have put on their 10 foot Jon's. I know a lot of you will say that my boat will be a "death trap" as they did in my the post above, but I accept the fact that I may fall in every once in awhile.
  3. The other day, I purchased a 330 us spool of stern fishing line. Unfortunately the diameter of the line was just a little to big for my broadcaster so it wasn't spoiling correctly. By the time I figured this out, I had already put line on the reel, and cut the line. I tied a knot between the line on the reel and the remaining line. Do you think it would be okay to return the line to the store? I got it from academy.
  4. Here is what I have rigged up: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/138521-10-foot-jon-boat-modifications/
  5. I have added a pic of me standing up on the boat
  6. I have thought about that, but we transport it on top of the car, on the roof racks, so it would not fit.
  7. I am 14 years old and only weigh 120. I have stood up on it for hours on end without a problem. If I were larger, It would definitely be more unstable.
  8. After seeing all of the cool modifications of jon boats on this site, and on youtube, I decided to modify a jon boat of my own. I started by messaging 00 Mod, and he answered all of the questions I had, and sent me some pics of some of his own jon boat modifications. So far, I have added carpeted seats, a rear casting deck, a built in cooler, rod holders, and bungee cord mounts, so i can strap everything down. A couple of weeks ago I found a Lowrance LMS 330c fishfinder and I picked it up for 10 bucks. I made a mounts for it, hooked it up on the boat, and it works great! The Jon boat, is powered by a Minn Kota C2 30 and it gets along just find on small ponds and lakes. The battery, and other miscellaneous items can be stored under the rear casting deck, which is easily removed. I have attached some pics.
  9. I broke my Fibia and Tibia about two years ago when I fell into shallow water while fishing. My grandpa had to take me up the hill in a wheelbarrow (that might be one of the worst experiences of my life) A couple days ago, I got off balanced in my jon boat, and while i was falling into the water, I broke my big toe, cracked the toenail on it, and got a bad cut on my toe, which leads down to the fracture, so there is a huge risk for infection.
  10. Today i got an LMS 330-C fishfinder at a garage sale for only 10 bucks! I think it came with everything i need. here are some pics: In the last image, you can see the power wires. these wires don't reach far enough apart for the battery. Is there any way that i can extend them?
  11. Well the deal was with my parents, if I earned the money to get the bpat, and accessories, they would get the necessary equipment to put on the car so that we can just tie it down to the top. If he doesn't have a lot of money, which I don't either, than he needs to ask his neighbors if he can do some yard work.
  12. Not trying to shoot down the idea at all, but I think this would put the dog in danger if the boat were to capsize, or for some wild reason you were to crash.
  13. If I were you, I would look around on craigslist and purchase a jon boat for cheap, and pick up a trolling motor for it. Then look around in your area for some jon boat tournament trails. I'm not sure where you live, but here in georgia it is 100% legal to drive the Jon boat as long as you have completed the online boat safety course. You can outfit your jon boat with a cooler livewell to keep your fish alive. I'm fourteen as well, and I have a ten foot jon boat myself, and even thought most serious anglers would laugh at it, it is what works good for me,and it gives me much satisfaction to own my own boat.
