  1. I just started getting into using Flukes. Was trying in a local canal today hoping to catch a few bass. Never thought I would start catching crappie though. 5"
  2. I don't use Horny toads so im not much help. I have been trying to figure out how to make a few of my other ones float though. I managed to get a couple trick worms to float (3/0 eagle claw weedless hooks) but it doesn't always work. Tried using WideGap Eagle Claw (4/0) with this.... and occasionaly can get it to float. Would be nice to have it stay on top for a while with no action. Maybe smaller hooks will help. Im sure the answer to your problem is the same thing I've been wondering about.
  3. I'm sure there are tons of topics on worms/grubs/creature baits etc.... but thats not what this thread is about. I have a bit of a personal delima. I am going to make a beginners guide to fishing with plastics and was curious what everyone here thinks. What are the most important aspects of fishing with soft plastic lures? I came up with this... Lure Types (frogs, creatures, worms etc..) Lure Colors (blue, green, pumkin etc..) Retrieving Techniques Rigging (texas, carolina etc...) ......???? What else seems important to you guys?
  4. Went out to East Lake Toho Fish Camp Today. Manage to catch two, 1-2lb softbait (like a bug), 3-4 lb on a rapala green husky jerk (still my all time favorite lure). Was using a natural blue trick worm with some fast passes and had a lot of fish go after it but none took it under. Ran out of time to try other colors. A 3-4ft chain pickeral ended the day by bitting it in half. Never seen one that big before. Could of been a pike? Glad I didn't hook into him.
  5. Project Sea Bisquit looks good. This last week I've been mostly stumped. Less then 2lbs on average, managed to catch one around 4lbs though, was a nice suprise. I'll try again tomorrow. See if my trip to the baitshop paid off. BTW That white spinner from walmart is a killer. Some of the cheap cranks are also killers. I found some saltwater bombers do work in freshwater. The discount bin bombers.
  6. New guy here living near East Lake. Thought I would say Hi and read around on the forums. I seriously enjoy setting up a bunch of rods/reels and catching a lot of catfish but bass fishing for sport is still my favorite. I don't eat them but do enjoy trying to trick them into getting hooked. Although I've fished since I can remember I really started getting into it the last 6 months. Reading up on bass behaviors, habits, etc... really trying to figure out these fishs' bad habbits. The fall was really excellent and a ton of fun. This month and last have been much more challenging to me. Seems I might be missing something (maybe its because im land locked). Although I have noticed that the fish in the past week are starting to spawn or at least picking their spawn locations. I'm thinking the fish might be feeding heavily at night but I haven't tried yet to find out. Been reading up on tournaments too, might venture into that, as well as starting a youtube fishing channel. None the less, here I am. Hey to everyone.
