  1. I will have to go with the spinner bait as well. In my opinion it isn't as hard to learn as the jig so its much quicker to learn and fish with. But Jigs really are a lot of fun. I absolutely love swimming jigs to me its a spinner bait with no blades but slow fishing a jig seems to be the hardest to learn and the most rewarding.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong but bass only know a few things... Shape, Size, Color, Patterns, and Actions. I don't see how the bait ball could work that well. I get the whole illusion of two fish thing, but surely the shape size and action of it still acts like a crank. I would think it scares more fish away as they see one thing and feel another. Then again I never used it who knows?
  3. Hear the story all to often about a boat being found with no one in it. Thank god you are okay. Live to fish another day!
  4. -When your ringtone is the ambient noise of being on the lake. -The smell of softplastics is an afrodisiac -When no pole is available you still stop at lakefronts -You can smell fish underwater -You watch water/birds of prey to see where the baitfish are -You start eating what your favorite fish eats. -You walk your dog and just jerk him around like a jerk bait. -You play with your pet cat and think of him as a small bass. -You daydream all day at work about fishing. and my personal favorite because its true.... A US Army guy (me) before deploying for my first time. Being shot at killed or whatever.. who cares.... All I could think about was if there were any lakes or rivers to fish there. What a major let down that entire year was!
  5. I learned most of it from other people but I still try new things time to time.
  6. 100% by buying a trailer on the waters edge!
  7. East Lake Tohopekaliga Lake Tohopekaliga Lake Istokpoga Lake Okeechobee All killer lakes with huge fish in them. Can't go wrong. The two Tohos are closest to Orlando International. As for the others not real sure. I still like like Jessup the most. On the northeast side you can venture off into the St.Johns River which is good fishing too.
  8. I would say you just barely avoided death by lightning. I had the shock through the water once. Felt like I grabbed a cattle fence. Ever since then I dont tempt fait anymore.
  9. Bad technique Long Mike, you only drop kick it when rubbing it down in mud. Gravel you are supposed to round house kick it.
  10. Thanks everyone! @alonerankin2 will be out on the water soon enough, I live near some of the canals and seen guys pull everything out of there. 20lb catfish, 12lb bass, 6-8 seems to be the common weight usually. I still won't claim I've caught them that big yet. I need a scale to know for sure
  11. I dont like seeing people throw them, Dropping them or slightly tossing them isn't so bad though. I'll be honest though. Sometimes when I have a bad hook set or waited to long I feel really bad.

Cold rain kills me but for any of you that never have never used gortex before its awesome stuff. I learned all about this in the military Gortex is used in spacesuits too.
  13. I bought the white one and on my third cast reeled in around a 4lb bass. East Lake Toho though I've caught a few around 5-6lbs with it. I would say keep at it. I also hooked into a resident 12lber. That happened in what I call my test pond. Stocked by multiple fishermen in the local residential area. I dont count the fish I catch there but its a good learning experience.... and no, the fish are in no way or shape starved. The 30lb carp on the other hand might be. That guy goes nuts for some bread.
  14. Haven't fished any tournaments and was looking at getting into it. As a fresh perspective....... I was looking at the rules and talking to a guy I know about a local tournament. I was shocked to see it wasn't already banned. To be honest I could care less about casual fishers having an a-rig that has multiple swim baits on it. Its not much different then how I would rig a small crank infront of a larger one to immitate a small fish chasing a smaller one but.... Personally, I think A-Rigs, and multiple lures on one line dont belong in tournaments. Just an opinion though.
  15. Im no saltwater expert but I love this Bomber.
  16. I got pretty good at targeting trout and redfish. Especially spotting the drums in flats. Snook though had me stumped all last summer. Looking at giant Snook while I worked at a marina. Every lunch break of amost everyday I was getting a new bomber out and in the water usually passing it by a huge snooks face. No luck. Live Pin Fish on a hook though seemed to do the trick for most of my co-workers. I never really cared to use bait though.
  17. Go reallly slow. When a cold front moves in It can get rediculous. I personally use no weight (if no wind, or light weight) let it sink and bump the reel moving the lure about a 1/2 inch at a time. then let it sit for a few seconds. Ive had fish bites taking as long as 10 second when I pause.. Sometimes consistant extremely slow reeling works better. For good measure Ill say it again. Slow lol. I get impatient with it too.
  18. I sometimes venture into the water and wade fish. I almost always see moccasins but try to keep in the open and shallow as much as possible. Them little boogers keep about 25-50 feet away normally but sometimes they just need to know your there and they will go the opposite way. A little stomping and movement helps. Never met one that tried to chase me yet.
  19. Looks awesome, just starting a new job so I won't be able to get time off yet. Man I wish I could go though. 2015 for sure!
  20. I really enjoy using a trick worm in clear water. Small or no weight, tons of actions and just watching fish come from 50+ feet away to come take a look (and usually strike) Although I haven't landed the big ones yet. Easily had a few 8 to 10lbs go after them in the summer.
  21. I once entered a tournament to help clear out a lake of fish (overpopulated how about that) The winners were for random categories. I target the bluegill and won the over all weight category. Its fun catching dozen upon dozen of these fish.
  22. I don't always fish saltwater but when I do I always seem to catch randomness. Jacks, Boneheads, Nurse Sharks, hammerheads, crabs, octapus.... and oyster fish like their going out of style. I gave up lol. I do love the fights though, very fun cranking on reels for a long time trying to outlast the fish. Always wondered how great it must feel to land a big Marlin.
  23. I would agree with this but everytime I look through the aisles. I end up being there for like 4-5 hours.
  24. Was out in a metal canoe pretty far from the truck/launch area. A good hour or two to get back when really bad weather came out of no where. Gusts around 40. Tons of ground to air lightning and could feel the electricity everywhere. Surrounded by flat islands. Best idea I could come up with was paddling like hell 20 minutes to a roadway bridge. Tied off and waited it out for the next hour.
