  1. the area of the susquehanna that is closed is far south of me. im still so stoked about catching that smallie. they do get bigger than that in the susquehanna but you never really see it.
  2. Yesterday I caught my new personal best smallie. She's a 21 inch 4lb 1oz monster of a susquehanna river smallmouth. Caught her on a texas rigged bass pro stick-o in green pumpkin/black fleck. After the hookset i knew i had something good then it ran up to the top of the water and i seen that it was a giant.
  3. http://wnep.com/2015/04/14/fish-killed-off-by-winter/ i went out there yesterday and its worse than what you see in the video. its really a shame. i did see 1 fish swimming but couldnt tell what it was. all of the dead fish were bass, bluegill, and huge grass carp. oddly i didnt see any dead pickerel and i know there are a lot of them in there.
  4. yeah it will be really soon that we can hit rivers. the mighty susquehanna is calling my name. them smallies better watch out.
  5. i have the exact rod you speak of and it works great for me. loads up great when casting lighter cranks too.
  6. i never use fluoro for the simple fact that i like to change my line quite often and fluoro costs to much for that. on my non-braided line reels i change my line at least once a month during the season, sometimes more depending on how much river shore fishing i do.
  7. i am a big fan of the symetre. i have both the 2500 and 3000 sizes and they are both awesome.
  8. I figured it would be cool for everyone to kinda contribute to a thread giving random tackle and organizing tips so i'll start. I'm anxious to see what everyone else has to say. Take the plastic tubing that often comes on spinnerbait hooks when you buy them, cut to size and put on a straight shank hook for an instant trailer hook.
  9. it may not be the only choice but its a d**n good one. i picked up 2 pro qualifiers a couple weeks ago, including the right handed version of the model you mentioned specifically for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. They perform exceptionally well.
  10. havent used one but i have 2 of the bionic plus baitcasters which is essentially a tourney special with 1 more bearing. they both use the smart cast system which works fairly well. i like mine but im still upgrading to pro qualifiers. i think the extra money is justified especially since pro qualifiers go on sale quite often.
  11. another vote for gamakatsu wide gap finesse hooks. 2/0 mostly but sometimes break out the 1/0 for smallmouth if i seem to be missing some.
  12. i have a 6'6" st croix triumph paired with a shimano symetre 3000fj and i love it. balances well, lightweight, and casts a mile.
  13. mr twister sassy shiner. havent got to use them since the early 90's. combined with an 1/8oz jighead, we used to catch all kinds of fish with them. black with red fleck probably worked the best.
  14. nepa here, plymouth, which is near wilkes barre
  15. i caught a frog on a spro bronzeye this past weeked. the weekend before a buddy of mine caught a snapping turtle on a jig. its entertaining for sure.
