  1. Which is NEVER a bad thing
  2. Absolutely have beers on the boat. What else are you supposed to do while you wait for a bite?
  3. time to pull out some hogs tomorrow boss!
  4. I would fully agree with Pz3. Keep an eye out for some accessible golf course ponds/backwater ponds in your area. They can really produce and you've already got them cornered, haha. Stay away from the ponds and canals near the highway if your looking for bass. If youre looking for gar though.....haha. Good luck!
  5. I used to head to lake anna yearly for a trip. We never got a guide but we did have a boat and were always on the "hot" (private) side. Using walk the dog topwater baits was always a good bet. We would always go mid summer (and d**n was that water hot! ~100 degrees at the surface) but we will still catch some nice fish. We would always be waiting for what we called "boils" where the bass were running up on the baitfish and exploding all over the surface. Sooooo much fun. We also had a lot of luck just fishing on the shore on the cold side by the small canal that connected to the warm side. Lots of big bass and stripers!
  6. Agreed. The bite has straight up stopped. Nothing of size for a while. Been using senkos and crankbaits. Whats working out there? Im in Orlando.
  7. Got a few small ones on a wacky rigged senko. Best catch was a 4-5 lb. largemouth on a rapala "walk the dog" style topwater bait. I have a devil's horse but I dont have much confidence in it. The front prop constantly wraps my line....
  8. Hey everyone, Id like to get involved in these small tournaments on the Conway chain of lakes. They are Wednesdays from 7-11pm with a 30$ buy in. I own a canoe with fish finder but no livewell or troller. Im working on aquiring a trolling motor. Anyway id like to find someone to fish some of these tournaments with. The canoe can work for two people but if you have something better on the water im all for that too, haha. PM me if anyone is interested. 9. Thanks for all the input everyone (especially RoLo, very detailed). I'll be out to test that drop off in the next couple days. hopefully returning with a great photo.
  10. Hey everyone, I recently bought a fish finder for my canoe. I found a large drop off (starts around 6 ft and drops to 22 ft quickly) in my local florida pond. I was just wondering what techniques have you used to find where the fish are on the drop off? Ive heard to criss cross the drop off to find cover with the fish finder. But what about baits? Jigs? Texas rigged worms? Senko with weight (or without) or wacky rigged? Deep diving crank? Lipless? Should i throw parallel to the drop off or up it or down it? Also are the bass actually holding that deep at this time in the season? Water temp is around 71-72. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  11. You can never beat Florida....so much water, so little time.
  12. Top water frog? or like a weighted creature style frog?
  13. Yep. Texas rig weightless just like geo g. Nice and slow. They seem to hit on the second or third drop on a cast. Ive been using green/silver, watermelon w/ red flakes, and a red/black senko.
  14. Im fishing the small lakes in the Orlando area. I was killing them with a rat-l-trap but the bite stopped on the lipless about 2 weeks ago. Senko senko senko...its been my bread and butter in the shallows along the brush for the last 2 weeks. Got this big girl on a pink and black senko 2 nights ago.
  15. Was catching on rat-l-traps a couple weeks ago. That has simmered. I've been pulling them out left and right under docks and in the weeds on a senko. Got this big girl last night on a senko in the brush.

  17. Hey everyone. My name is Josh. I've been an avid fisherman all my life but really got into bass in the last 5 years. I grew up fishing in PA but about a year ago I moved to the bass fishing mecca of Florida. It's been great to say the least. I fish out of a 16 ft canoe. Glad to finally join bass resource and I look forward to everyone's advice. Go fish Florida!
