  1. Now THAT'S a great day on the water.
  2. I love the Rage Tail baits. The only thing I have an issue with is the durability of the craws. I'm constantly losing the pinchers, they just pop off too easily. Anybody else experience this?
  3. Ditto on losing the steel leader. Low 50s water temp is jerkbait time for me. I've had good luck with Rattlin' Rogues along ledges that lead from deep water to shallow flats.
  4. Cedar Lake in Southern Illinois is my favorite. You can't fish it from shore, but you're more than welcome to fish it from the back of my boat. Shoot me a PM if you're interested and let me know when you'll be passing through.
  5. A lot of great days come to mind, but this one stands out. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1211741731/0#0
  6. Muddy, I give my team, the Cardinals, the same respect they give me. When they make the effort to field a winning team, I make the effort to watch. When they fail, I turn away. I am not a die-hard fan of any pro team and I feel no guilt about this relationship. If they are only in it for the money (and they've proven that they are) then I am only in it for the good times. You can call me a bandwagon fan, but I'm not about to get upset over the failure of a bunch of spoiled millionaires. I'll leave that for Cub fans. ;D Dan
  7. Great fish and great story. It's amazing how one little change can turn a so-so outing into a truly memorable one!
  8. Great fish and great pic! What did she weigh?
  9. Great fish! I can see why people fall in love with trout fishing.
  10. There's nothing personal about a post being moved to the appropriate category. Happens all the time. Great fish, btw! :)
  11. "Looks like you made it with your feet" ;D ;D ;D
  12. The old Prodigy baitcaster was a Pinnacle reel. The new Prodigy baitcaster is basically a souped up Daiwa Advantage. 2 reels so completely different that it's a shame they go by the same name. I own one of the newer ones and it's a great reel. I have no experience with the older model.
  13. Holy cow that's a toad! Congrats. ;D
  14. Nice fish! I think the broken lateral lines means it's a white/striped hybrid.
  15. Welcome Dave!
  16. Way to go Muddy! You have an inspiring story to tell and If you ever write a book about your life, I'll be first in line to buy a copy. Congrats! Dan
  17. When I can't remember something from that long ago, I usually just start making up details. By the way, did I ever mention the time back in '78 when I caught a 15 pound smallmouth on a chunk of velveeta cheese?
  18. Hey Senile, You must not have been fishing the ditches when you lived in Sikeston! ;D We hit 'em hard in mid-summer with nightcrawlers, cut bait, and live shad. Not uncommon to catch any or all of the following on the same day: White bass Crappie Largemouth Kentucky Bass Sunfish Goggle Eye Drum Channel Cat Flatheads Blue Cats Longnose Gar Common Carp Bowfin I'm probably missing some, but when you're fishing a ditch off the Mississippi with live and cut-bait for more than a few hours, just about anything is possible. The water is almost boils with activity...and many days the bites are non-stop. P.S. Almost forgot about the Asian carp and shad that we catch in the throw nets.
  19. I think the real fun will start when these juicers are eligible for the Hall of Fame. They're keeping McGwire out, will they keep Bonds, Palmero, A-Rod, Clemens, Petite, and the rest out for the same reason? What about all the other players with incredible numbers who have not yet been named...does that mean they're innocent, or just lucky? I know ESPN loves this topic, but at some point we're going to have to decide as fans if we even really care. Right now attendance and TV ratings say that we don't.
  20. Everytime I read about a PETA protest, I eat a double bacon cheeseburger for lunch.
  21. Gold star for Islandbass. I believe I'll do the same with my daughters.
  22. http://blogs.suntimes.com/sportsprose/2009/02/subway_accepts_michael_phelp.html That's the last time I get my sports news from Deadspin (not really).
  23. I'm not that quick on my feet. All I could mutter was 'no. No. NO. NO!!!"
