  1. From what I know, bass strikeing a topwater is not known whether it is from anger or because they are hungry. I believe it is a territorial thing, where they will attack the lure to get rid of it. Since they don't have a fist to punch with, or feet to kick with, they hit it with their tail or they bite the lure, and attempt to either hit it, or move it out of the area. That is my opinion, but I really don't know. I really don't think bass "miss". I think at times they will hit the lure with their tail, but that is to scare the creature that is bothering them. Now if a bass truely strikes at a topwater and misses, I have found more often then not they strike at it again. And rarely ever miss the second time. Just my opinion through my experience.
  2. Hi KIFishin, Welcome to the forum! For carolina rigs, you can use floating worms if you want, but don't have to everytime. It is more of a per situation, and a preference thing. Same with texas rig. Sometimes I will drag the rigs across the bottom and catch fish, other times I will hop them over the bottom, or in place and catch fish. For spinnerbaits, I have found that a medium speed retrieve usually has the best results. Same with crankbaits. BUT.. there are times when the fish will only go after a slow moving bait, and also times when they are not going to hit your lure unless they see it fly by at mach 4. Most of your questions are kind of general. You must remember, bass do not read the books, or follow the rules. When you throw in a lure or soft plastic, you have to find the bass first, and then find what will make them bite if they are not actively feeding. Find out what works for you, and utilize it. Im sure you'll get more specific answers to your question. Just my .02 cents.
  3. My turn... Sorry for the bad pic, but I had to blow it up some and in turn sacrifice quality.
  4. Today I tried some toilet cleaner which was almost very bad. You see, toilet cleaner is corrosive, and therefore eats anything you put it on. I tested a small area on the back of the boat and after letting in soak in for about one minute, I noticed little bubbles forming in the paint. I very quickly rinsed it off, but the bubbles remained. I did get rid of the stain in the area I cleaned though. I also tried another hand cleaner called M30. Didn't even touch the stain. The closest thing I could compair the color of the stain, would have to be coffee. It looks just like a coffee stain. Im going to try the toilet cleaner again, but I'll just rinse it off quicker.
  5. I was thinking maybe you were abducted by avid, ah I mean aliens.
  6. How close are these holes to the shore? That is bull crap!!! Everyone knows that the aliens come from Venus. ;D
  7. To purchase BR ebook: http://www.bassresource.com/eBook/ebook.html
  8. The hull is kevlar. The picture in my avatar is my boat, yes. I like the toilet cleaner tip, as well as the hand cleaner tip. I really think they will both work well. We have lots of different hand cleaners at our shop, so I'll get a couple brushes and give that a try. Thanks!
  9. Do you remember what the guys boat looked like? What kind of clothes did the guy have on? What about the ramp, how did you loose track of it now that you can think back? Was it where you looked for it the second time? Were you indeed on Orange Lake?
  10. My brother mixed up some caustic fumes once before when cleaning his toilet. He came very close to dieing. He said it took him at least 15 minutes before he could get a full breath again. The fumes closed his lungs up very quickly. I think I'll try the tidy bowl cleaner since we have some here. If I can't get it with that, I'll try the clr. Thanks guys. Anyone else?
  11. "Bass Wisdom" was also my first book about bass fishing. I have found the In-Fisherman books to be pretty good too. Sometimes you can find them at your local bookstore, like Borders, that is where I got mine.
  12. Washed my boat today but couldn't get the brown scum stain cleaned off of the boat. I tried simple green and a scotch bright pad, but after testing it in a hidden spot, it took some of the outer paint off of the boat, most likely because of the scotch bright pad though. I would like to have some suggestions of how I can get the scum stain off my darn boat. I scrubbed it like crazy too with a brush and hot water to no avail. Thank you for the help.
  13. After recently getting a boat to use for the 2007 tourney season, I need to get a couple fish finders for the boat. The three main reasons I want a fish finder include: 1. To know the water temperature. 2. To be able to know how deep the water is. 3. To be able to find sructure. I have been looking at alot of different lower priced models, and they all seems to come with the three basics I am looking for. Would it be a waste of my money to buy a one hundred dollar FF just to get the basics? Or should I get a two-four hundred dollar FF to have more options? 80% of the lakes I will be fishing are not huge, so I don't feel the need for a unit with GPS. What are some options I am over-looking that I will regret not having with the purchase of a lower priced FF?
  14. I agree with what NEbassMan has said. The articles on the site are full of priceless info. And...Welcome to the forum!
  15. It's nice to know that some big names in the industry like to check out the site from time to time. I just wish more of them would take an active role in the forum.
  16. Just a note to let everyone know that Gander Mt. has the Mann's Stone Jig on Sale for $1.97.
  17. Does anyone on the forum have a rainsuit called a TecH20? The "H" in tech is the first letter in the H20 on the label. I seen them at Gander Mountain tonight on clearence. The bibs are around $40, and the jacket was around $50. Is this rainsuit any good? It looked and felt like a quality suit, but I have yet to own a good one, so I really don't know. Thanks for any help.
  18. Last night I am walking around Dick's sporting goods, and I come across a 6'6" Light action rod with a fast tip, made by Allstar. It was originally a $60.00 rod, but was on clearence for......$10.00, so I couldn't pass it up. I have never used a light action rod before, and would like to know what such a rod would be good for? Also, does Allstar under-rate their rods? The rod feels more like a med action than a light action.
  19. I lived in Gettysburg just short of a year.
  20. I finally found an old SD card from my old camera when I lived in Gettysburg Pa. I decided to post some of my favorites for all to view. First view is of 2 hills in the distance. The larger one is Big Round Top, and the smaller hill is Little round top. The second view is about 1/4 mile closer, and to the right of the first view. Third view is a closer view of Little and Big round top, from across the field of Pickett's charge. The last four pictures are from different areas in Gettysburg.
  21. Good job guys! How many more can you find? I'll give you a hint.... there are several more that are false.
  22. SO YOU THINK YOU KNOW EVERYTHING? "Stewardesses" is the longest word typed with only the left hand and "lollipop" with your right. (Bet you tried this out mentally, didn't you?) Maine is the only state whose name is just one syllable. (I'll bet you're going to check this out.) No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple. "Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt". (Are you doubting this?) Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing. The sentence: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter of the alphabet. ( Now, you KNOW you're going to try this out for accuracy, right?) The words 'racecar,' 'kayak' and 'level' are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left (palindromes). (Yep, I knew you were going to "do" this one.) There are only four words in the English language which end in "dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous. (You're not doubting this, are you?) There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: "abstemious" and "facetious." (Yes, admit it, you are going to say ...... a e i o u) TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard. (All you typists are going to test this out) All 50 states are listed across the top of the Lincoln Memorial on the back of the $5 bill. A dime has 118 ridges around the edge. A cat has 32 muscles in each ear. A goldfish has a memory span of three seconds. (Some days that's about what my memory span is) A "jiffy" is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second. A shark is the only fish that can blink with both eyes. A snail can sleep for three years. ( I know some people that could do this too.) Al Capone's business card said he was a used furniture dealer. Almonds are a member of the peach family. An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain. Babies are born without kneecaps. They don't appear until the child reaches 2 to 6 years of age. February 1865 is the only month in recorded history not to have a full moon. In the last 4,000 years, no new animals have been domesticated. If the population of China walked past you, 8 abreast, the line would never end because of the rate of reproduction. If you are an average American, in your whole life, you will spend an average of 6 months waiting at red lights. Leonardo Da Vinci invented the scissors. On a Canadian two dollar bill, the flag flying over the Parliament building is an American flag. Peanuts are one of the ingredients of dynamite! Rubber bands last longer when refrigerated. The average person's left hand does 56% of the typing. The cruise liner, QE2, moves only six inches for each gallon of diesel that it burns. The microwave was invented after a researcher walked by a radar tube and a chocolate bar melted in his pocket. (Good thing he did that) The winter of 1932 was so cold that Niagara Falls froze completely solid. There are more chickens than people in the world. Winston Churchill was born in a ladies' room during a dance. Women blink nearly twice as much as men. Now you know everything
