  1. 7 ft mh fast action graphite rod and an abu garcia silvermax, i was using a spinnerbait today but it happens with texas rigs too
  2. I just lost a great lunker because i didnt set the hook well enough. This happens a lot with me. I think I'm hesitant to set because im not sure whether i should wait or set right away. But even when i think i set it nicely the fish jumps a few times and manages to get away
  3. Lol, it's not that I cant tie it, it has to be something with the reel. Nice try at humor though
  4. sorry but this doesn't work. I tried knots, i tried tape, i tried not even using a knot. Every single time, the line is loose when spooled.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions guys. But if they're migrating does that mean there are none in these waters or just that the main group of them aren't here? Because I hear the bite is already pretty good on the right day.
  6. I was using a fish finder rig with 5/0 circle hook. On my other rod I tried using a soft plastic shad on a jig head, no luck. And what do you mean the main run of stripers? are they migrating?
  7. Today I fished the tide going out with some herring and again not a bite but i know there are stripers in these waters. Do you have any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
  8. fishing from a pier right by a dock
  9. Anyone wanna help me catch my first striped bass? I've been out a few times but can't seem to get a bite. I was chunking herring and mackerel. I'm at MA's east coast
  10. Sorry, I should rephrase this question. Are all bass active at at least one point in the day? Are they active at the same time when they are schooling?
  11. below $20 - my local pond has very clear water and is very abundant in perch, so I was looking for a good perch swimbait but cant decide on hard vs soft. People seem to prefer the soft but I can't find out why.
  12. The realistic looking ones with multiple joints
  13. Which do you prefer, when, and why?
  14. Wacky rigged worms and rat l traps
  15. Using 12 lb mono... I was trying the trick in the video for awhile before I cut it out, it worked the first time I backlashed but this one was too bad
  16. Oh well no I know it has to be something I did, it was my first time using it
  17. Why is this amusing? This forum is starting to seem toxic
  18. LOL you call that whining? Good luck when you grow up and start life when you meet people who actually whine. And I studied baicasters for weeks before this but it wouldn't cast properly.
  19. I just used a baitcaster for the first time and of course got a huge bird's nest. After much struggle, I decide, like an idiot, that it would be a good idea to try to cut it out. Well now i have an even worse situation with strips of loose bird's nest everywhere stuck under tangled line.
  20. Seeing some very contradictory opinions on this subject
  21. Lots of great advice here, thanks guys
  22. Thank you guys very much. I've never met a more helpful and supportive forum than bass resource.
  23. How big is the learning curve for bass fishing? How long did it take before you guys were catching bass consistently?
