  1. 4 lb Trilene XL (mono) or 4 lb Yo Zuri Hybrid? I have a 5’6” light rod with a small spinning reel. I will fish for stocked trout in lakes and may fish in small creeks for bass with this setup as well. I am leaning Yo Zuri Hybrid, but I have heard the memory is bad for spinning reels or is it not that bad? thanks!
  2. Ordered an Arid-X for $48. Thanks for all the suggestions! Hopefully this thread helps others find a super affordable Yet good quality rod!
  3. I have read that the new Berkley Lightnings have that plastic reel seat and it breaks on a lot of them after a few fish.
  4. Yea, I do most of my fishing either wading in creeks or in a kayak...so the shorter rods are easier in those situations. 6’6” is def the highest I want to go. I occasionally go on a boat but not very often.
  5. I am setting up a jigging rig and need a 6’6” MHF rod that is under $60 to pair with my reel. Any suggestions?? Bass Pro was running a sale on the Bass Pro shops Tourney Special rod but now they are back up to $49.99: https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-100187207 Are they worth it for that setup of what other options are there at that price point??!! Thanks!
  6. I am going to use a leader on a 20 lb Hi Vis braid spinning set up. Would you suggest 8 lb Fluorocarbon or 8 lb Yo Zuri Hybrid as a leader?
  7. 6.4:1 BPS Pro Qualifier 7.5:1 Lews Tournament MB Which one would you use for Jigs? Which for Cranks/Jerkbaits/Spinnerbaits? Thanks!
  8. I am thinking either 10 or 12 lb flouro? I will be throwing it on a 6'6" medium rod with a lews tourney pro! Thanks ahead of time !!!
  9. I am going to crankbait, jerkbait, shad rap on this new reel and I am going to put 10 or 12 # fluorocarbon on it. The plan is to get a reel around the $200 retail range cheaper on the "auction site". I have researched some and would love some opinions on these reels: 1) Lews tournament pro speed spool $148 (leaning toward this one) 2)Lews tournament MG speed spool $104 or 129 (retail) 3) Abu Garcia Revo Stx $153 4) Pflueger supreme XT $135 6) Johnny morris signature series $160
  10. Where do you get a lews tourney pro for 148??? And What is the difference other than price from the lews MG? Anyone have experience with both?
  11. Ok I have tried to research a little more and I have heard amazing things about lews reels. Around $150 is probably my cut off price so my research has brought me to a few. I already have two BPS Pro Qualifiers and love them but want to try a new brand/reel. Which one and is there a big difference in the price range with the lews reels: 1) Lews Tourney Speed Spool $149.99 2) Lews MG Speed Spool $129.99 3) Lews Speed Spool $99.99 4)Johnny Morris Carbonlite $109.97 5) Johnny Morris signature series $159.99 6) Abu Garcia Revo S $129.99 7) Abu Garcia Revo SX $149.99 8) Daiwa Tatula $149.99 9) Shimano Citica $129.99
  12. Thanks everybody. I appreciate every one of your comments and I think I am going to go with the 6:4:1. Now the only decision is whether the Johnny Morris CarbonLite is the right reel for me? I heard that there are A LOT of issues with the retrieve being rough. I definitely do not want that. I am thinking of maybe going with the Abu Garcia Revo S or Revo SX? thoughts?
  13. Getting a new baitcast reel (Johnny Morris Carbonlite). I use braid w/ flouro leader on my other baitcast reels, and I am going to put fluorocarbon on this one so my bait gets to the right depth in certain situations. I am going to fish crankbaits (deep and mid), jerkbaits, shad raps...on this new one. Should I go with the slower 5:4:1 (22" per turn) that is usually ideal for slower cranks, the middle ground at 6:4:1 (26" per turn), or 7:1:1 (29" per turn) usually recommended to help pick up that slack line when hit ? Also...do the JM carbonlites really all have the roughness while reeling? Thanks ahead of time and sorry if this has already been covered here (tried to find it). ?
