  1. It is a bright white. It is good if you need to watch your line, but if you are planning to use it on spooked fish, it won't serve that purpose. Your best bet would be florocarbon!
  2. Are you talking about Fireline Crystal? If so, its not clear at all!
  3. I knew I'd get a good one from you! ;D
  4. I was wondering what kind of log you use to keep track of your fishing reports during the year? What kind of information do you keep track of? (Here comes the "logs made of wood" comments from Dink and Avid! ;D)
  5. I have not seen him live but have heard some of his shows live. He is funny as ####. I would imagine the atmosphere of being at his show would make it even better. Enjoy!
  6. I like the Knowing Bass book. About 90% of it is scientific research about the biology of a bass. It really helped me understand how a bass operates, but unfortunately does very little to help catch them. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good facts that can help you be a better fisherman, but by know means will it take you to the top. Having said that, I do think it's a must read! The hunter getting to know the hunted is always good for the hunt P.S. I borrowed a book from Dink that is very insightful. It's called "Lunker" by Bob Underwood. He spent thousands of hours under water observing and recording bass in thier natural habitat. It is an excellent read but is probably going to require some research to find it. It's a pretty old book!
  7. I know this is wierd, but i love the smell of Powerbait plastics. I wish I could get it in an incense. Anybody else like that smell or other attractants?
  8. Versitile. I want to be able to look at the conditions and use whatever technique is called for that day to catch fish. That is probably the only label I would want to describe me.
  9. Is there a difference in prescription sunglasses? How much do they cost for a good pair? Are they as effective and are they comfortable? Any other information on them would be appreciated. Thanks
  10. I have just joined my first club. I was wondering from those of you that have been in a club for atleast 5 years or more and have had success in your tournaments, would it really benefit me to be a nonboater for the first year or do I run a risk of wasted tournies in the back with someone that doesn't know what they are doing? What have you experienced?
  11. Lets assume that the bass is coming from 30 feet down. It might not be that deep at all, we just add everything up and it appears it came that far. But lets assume it has the desire, energy and speed to go that distance. For one this would be a rarety for a fish to travel that distance. In other words it wouldn't happen enough to add this technique to your bag of tricks. For seconds, you would have really clear water. In clear water, all colors are visible 20 feet down. At the 20 to 30 foot range red is the first color to begin to turn gray. Then orange at 40, yellow at 70, green at 95, blue 40 to 50, purples at 35, or there about. Mind you this is clear water, but not pure water. Florescent colors however stand out a lot further down. If you had a floroscent chartruese it would stand out more than ordinary primary and secondary colors do. However, a bass 30 feet down, does not have to be attracted to the color, just the possibility of a meal. Color is very low on the scale for a fish that deep. Just my opinion.
  12. Mine is 8 pounds. Caught last year in the beggining of April on a deep-diving Thunderstick.
  13. I tried to modify my original statement and accidently deleted :-[ Sorry
  14. I am curious :-/ Do we actually believe that the only way to learn about a bass is if he talks. I don't think we should excuse most science just because bass can't speak. :-/ I hope I never need open heart surgery someday because I know my heart has never spoken to any heart surgent. Uh-oh Don't let any of the successful tournament anglers know that they are just lucky. Bass haven't spoken so they couldn't possibly know how to catch them!
  15. Bass have kick a## eyesight. I pretty much would discount anybodies "so-called" knowledge that said anything otherwise. The fact whether or not bass can see is not a subject that is based on opinion. Its science that can be proven. They even see out of the water accurately enough to catch insects flying by! As for color, they have cone cells for daytime sight, but they do not have the ability to see blues and violets. All other colors they can see, but blues and purples they see as shades of gray. Thats why I like some blues and lavanders on the backs of crankbaits. It seems to me that it might match a shad better than black, but i dont know that for sure.
  16. I'm with you G-Man, Springfield MO would be my pick as well. Close to a lot of good H2O
  17. hasn't been thick enough to walk on for as long as I can remember :-/
  18. Thats a funny statement. My glass is still half full. I don't really want to go ice fishing here in St. Louis because I know I won't catch anything. Basically because the ice is only 1/4 inch thick.
  19. I don't really live close to any real lakes, so I often go to some small ponds close by just to work on technique, accuracy, flippin, etc. But every time I go, there is stinkin ice on the ponds >. Where's this global warming they keep talking about :-/ Help me El Nino .! Sorry, just had to vent.
  20. The Natural, I figured thats how I would do it as well. When I started feeling nicks then time to respool. How many hours in that month do you fish? As for the mono, I know Excel is cheap stuff. But I use 8, 10, 12 pound test mostly and if I used more expensive mono, and I have, I would still feel better replacing it often. BTW I should add that I replace it after 15 hours of use. I have 8 reels I use and as you know, you don't always end up using most of your combos. So I try to keep track in my mind and replace when I get to 10 to 15 hours use on that reel.
  21. I use primarily mono, BPS Excell to be exact, and I change my line after 10 to 15 hours of fishing. But I am going to use Floro for a few techniques. I was wondering how long it lasts. Its tougher than mono and a lot more expensive. How long before you change it out? BTW, just a side note if you lose big bass do to line breakage. I do hold fast to the belief that if you don't change your line often, it will result in lost fish. I know this to be true due to the many big bass I use to lose from line breakage. Last year I had an 8 pounder, 6 pounder, 6 in the 5 pound range and 20 to 30 if not more in the 3 to 4 pound range. I only broke one off last year and I didn't use anything heavier than 12 pound test. Those that don't break off big bass are most of the time taking care of their line.
  22. I have heard from several different sources that sunglasses that are polarized are the same when it comes to the polarization. In other words there is no such thing as better quality polarization. Is this true in your opinion. Then is the extreme cost differance in glasses just relate to the plastic/glass and scratch resistance? Do you have to spend $100 for a good pair or will a $30 pair be alright?

Is the Strike King hook on thier jigs strong? In other words, does the point bend easy like cheaper hooks? What brand jig has a real sharp and strong hook that remains that way?

Has anyone noticed Yum plastics with LPT out producing normal plastics or even salt inpregnated plastics? has anybody noticed them performing better than Powerbaits?
