  1. 7'3 hvy Powell inferno w/ a 7:4.1 lews speed spool and 65lb spider wire braid. Then you'll be cooking. Lews reels are much better made than abu's. Really just get a rod that feels right. I woundnt spend more than 150$ on my first rod and no more than 150$ for the reel as well. But don't buy an Abu, for a lews and make sire it's a high gear ratio. Best of luck
  2. I've been a customer on tackle warehouse for about a year now and in love the products they carry and the customer service and won't be Leaving anytime soon but I ran upon a website that has rods and reeks for nearly 30$ off and was wondering how they could price their products so low. If it wasn't a rip off and they were legit products I may order a few things here in there from BTD but was wondering if the products they carried were real?
  3. Do bass hang on main lake points at the mouths of creeks during the summer? And also where do you look for ledges in a lake? Lastly what baits? Crankbait, carolina rig, football jig or drop shot?
  4. Wondering what electronics y'all prefer. No fish finder in perticular just which brand y'all think is better as a whole.
  5. Dm if you have any other questions
  6. Fishing tackle can be overwhelming, there is one key concept when your starting out, KEEP IT SIMPLE, if your new to fishing you probably don't know much about bass behavior and how they tick, don't go of to the store and buy every carnkbait and every other lure because you see work on you tube because you tube, you won't have success. Not because the bait doesn't work it's because you most likely don't know when or where to fish it propriety and fishing situations are hard to analyze especially to a rookie. Like I said keep it simple. Next time you at the locks tackle store just get some zoom trick worms,3/16 oz bullet weight and a pack of 4/0 hooks. Texas rig your worm and pound the bank. Throw it to docks, lay downs, grass beds, rock banks, you name it and fish it there. The thing about the worm is there isn't a wrong way to fish it and it's very easy. Don't get caught up in all the gear, that will all come once you understand fishing more and more and the season patterns start to make sense. When your fishing also don't try a figure out ten different baits at once. Figure out the worm then work your way up to a spinner bait or sqaurebill next and keep building on your skills. Best of luck to you. Bass ifs hint is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I love it more than life it's self.
  7. Spinnerbait for sure. If the water is really stained go with a chart colored spinner bait with a good Colorado blade but if there is still some visibility go with a chart/white spinnerbait and for blade a willow leaf blade should do the trick. Fish fast and fish sawllow. Rain really gets bass active and so,e of my best days are after fronts in the summer.
  8. I've been maeaijg to try out the chatter bait but I I'm pretty sure it's a cold weather bait for pre spawn fish mainly? Are they still effective in the summer and fall?
  9. Work sqaurebills, worms and spinnerbaits in the tree tops. When it's mid day and hot rig up a carolina rig and bottom bump the pond around the dam in the deep part unless you know where the humps are then get a deep diving crank bait, Storm Wiggle Wart are killer, they run about 10 feet and for a deeper running bait try a Norman dd20, they run about 18ft but if you use mono you can get them in the 15 ft range which is the most depths of ponds.
  10. Only problem with that is that tournaments aren't fished at night.....
  11. I know guys with dobyns and I've fished with then before but I've never had the chance to won one. The only one in my pirce range is the savy. I'm only 14 so money is a big factor. But I think there one of the best ones made
  12. Thanks for the tips
  13. What type of knot do you suggest? I use improved clinch for braid and my mono but I don't know what's good for floro and I rely need to find a new one for braid
  14. Alright thanks man
  15. I use a lot of Powell rods and love them but the denails caught me interests, Exocet the don't have cork grips which is a major turn off but I still want to try a 7'2 med hvy for spinnerbaits
  16. I use a glass/composite 6'10 med hvy rod, I'm new to Sqaurebill and I'm using 16lb floro, There are VMC hooks on my Sqaurebill and I kept pressure on the bug fish that came off and he dove straight down after peeling like 10 yards of drag and then just popped off. I'm thinking I didn't have him hooked good or something. What do you think? How do you get the hooks in them good?
  17. How do you like to fish your senkos? Flip?
  18. Multiple guys have been telling me to flip senkos in Kissimmee grass, I hadn't herd of that ether but apparently it's the way to go.
  19. I'm trying to start a high school bass fishing team at my school but I don't know where to start really? Should I go with TBF,BASS or FLW? Some one needs to fill me in with the 411 of high school bass fishing, sponsors and how to even get singed up for tournaments.
  20. I don't know why but the sun line doesn't seem to be that strong to me I broke 16 lb test with my hands.....rotten line I'm guessing?
  21. I'm trying to start making fishing vids with my go pro but the quality doesn't seem good while it's on the video setting for what ever reason. It takes crystal clear picture with normal camera setting. Any suggestions?
  22. Worm fishing just slowed up for me but sqaurebills have been great early in the morning and frogs up real swallow from 8-10 has been crushing them. I don't know why but the bass just stopped hitting the worm for me over here in tally. Weird right?
  23. 3 rods is all you need. Rig up three rods with your favorite lures and just go out and fish. Don't sorry about anything else and if your not catching fish see of the fish want a moving bait or something like a worm. Let the fish decide what you throw and have three simply rigs that cover those areas. And before you go fishing pick out a few spots and rig a few rods that you'll know you'll use in that spot.
