Good morning all.
I've been lurking here for a while and I have a question. I just came across two old fiberglass spinning rods while I was rooting around in my grandfather's basement and I have no idea what they'd be used for. I've read that some folks like fiberglass for crankbaits, but before I go slap a reel on one and haul it off to Canada with me in July, I'd like to know more about them and if I should even bother.
It seems from what I've Googled that fiberglass spinning rods are kind of in the realm of fly fishing, which I know less than nothing about. Both of these rods seem super-lightweight to me. So..... there is the strong possibility that I have no idea what I'm talking about and these two rods are useless to me! I'll try to grab a picture of them when I get home today, if that will help.
One is a Shakespeare SP-C500 "Kwik Taper" Wonderod. 7' long.
The other is a Berkley Spartan SP30 at 6' 6".
I'm what you might call a "professional novice" when it comes to bass fishing. I really only get out for a yearly trip to Ontario and I'm mostly an early-morning topwater guy. I'd be willing to experiment with one or both of these this year, if they are even applicable to bass fishing. Any suggestions, recommendations, or anecdotes are welcome.
Cheers!
