300$ Budget For A Baitcaster
I would go with the Abu Garcia Revo Premier. I also have a Revo SX $160, MGX $350, and Quantum ExoPt $250. All great reels, but I would highly recommend the Premier. I feel the difference between the SX and Premier is worth the value, I'm not sure If I can say the same for the Premier and MGX. The Premier is on sale at Tackle Warehouse right now for $250 in 6:4:1. At $250 I would 100% go with the Premier over the Exo.

Good Rod Vs "great" Rod?
I would agree. $100 rod is more than adequate for most fishermen. If you are just looking for a rod that will be reliable and adequate you can get tons of rods for around $100 and maybe even less...don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I have 3 different St. Croix models Mojo $100, Avid $200 and Legend Tournament $250. The more expensive rods are without a doubt better rods. You need to decide how important incremental improvements are to you. Do I need a $250 rod? Definitely not but I enjoy them and can tell the difference. For me, and most people in these forums, fishing is more than catching fish. I enjoy researching the gear and learning about the nuances between different rods. Its a hobby and something that I enjoy to do. If in doubt and you have the budget...get the better rod.

Best Cranking Rod Under $200
I agree with Gabriel052. I have the Mojo and its a good rod but it can't compare to my St. Croix Avid. I thought it was definitely worth the extra money...right around $190.

Fishing With A Frog
I use a Duckett Ghost 7'3" Heavy with #40 power pro braid on a 7:1:1 Revo Sx.

Crankbait Rod
I'm not sure if you're looking to spend this much but I have the St. Croix Avid (7' Medium Power with Fast Action) and I would highly recommend it. I mainly use it for crank baits but I feel its very versatile for other styles as well.
