Ponds can be very tricky at times because of how "open" they look but bass will relate to even the slightest amounts of cover. Start by working a search bait (spinners,cranks, etc..) and fan cast. If that doesn't produce, I would highly recommend switching to a soft jerkbait like a zoom fluke or a senko as those are great pond baits. You could also use a Texas rigged plastic but make sure you're using the lightest weight possible! Ponds are shallow so there is no need for anything over 1/4 oz unless it's extremely windy. If bass still aren't biting, try a shaky head or even a drop shot. These are both finesse type baits
But I have caught many fish over 5 with both, especially shaky heads. Just keep fishing and good luck!
