First Baitcaster
The couple times I've used a bait caster, it has felt weird to me because essentially youre changing "sides" or hands as far as holding the rod and of course reeling. with most spinning reels you reel with the left hand whether or not youre right handed. where as with a bait caster, if youre right handed then you most of the time REEL with the right hand and hold the rod in your left. Aside from the actual cast, that is the biggest adjustment I know I'll have to get used to. I know it's time to start with a bait caster though. I'm looking forward to being able to put the lure exactly where I want it. accuracy is crazy. often times I also wish I had more control over how "hard" or "soft" the lure enters the water with a spinning reel I don't feel like you have as much control as you do with a caster. and of course speed.

I appreciate it and will let you know within the next few days.

to S. Sass If someone has cash on the spot for the Lews reel, obviously sell it! but I'd definitely be willing to pay the $20 for that reel if you still have it in a few days. looks like a really nice reel and I appreciate the price so like I said if you have it in a few days then we'll talk payment.

Once again thanks for all the advice everyone. $59 for the HMG IS a good deal and I've also heard quite a few good things about those rods before tonight. So that may be what I do because its cheaper than the St. Croix.

Maybe $100 total for the combo is a little unrealistic. I run into problems with my current spinning rod/reel when trying to throw heavier jigs. Or anything fairly heavy for that matter. So i'd really like to find a combo that would accommodate pretty much any lure.

First of all, I appreciate the advice in advance. My price range would probably be around $100 for the combo. Right now I've been throwing a lot of jigs and crank baits. But i'd like to find a combo that would pretty much be good for throwing anything..

Decided it's time to not just carry spinning rods. I am looking for suggestions on what would be the best baitcast reel/combo to start with.

Picture Upload For Profile Too Large??

Picture Upload For Profile Too Large??
I've been trying for awhile to upload a picture of a bass as my profile picture on here but each picture I upload is "too large" and the site wont allow me to post it. anybody else with similar problems? and veterans to the site: how do I change the size of the pic I want to upload so I can finally have a profile picture.
