  1. Hey y’all. it’d be with two baits specifically: the XZone whiplash shad (love this bait) and a MB 110 and 110 jr. hard jerk bait.
  2. Hey y’all. I wanted to ask what rod, reel, line, and specific brand and model jerkbait everyone is using to rip through grass. I’m in Tallahassee but I’ve got a trip coming up to Orlando and I would like to try ripping jerkbaits through hydrilla. Just wanted to get a primer on what kind of setup might be good. I’ve heard from most that mega bass has the best jerkbaits, I’m sure that’s somewhat subjective. I’ve used the KVD ones before but really have never been a jerk bait aficionado. From what I hear the technique is deadly down here as a search bait and for fishing this grass we have with some efficiency. Thanks!
  3. Thanks y’all. My main waters are the St. Marks and Wakulla rivers, Lake Talquin and Lake Miccosukkee. I’ll check for biological surveys. I appreciate the help!
  4. Hi all. As we have all heard and done before, I am trying to "match the hatch" in a new area that im fishing in soon. I wanted to ask around and see if anybody has specific tips or techniques on doing this... Obviously catching a bass and harvesting it and seeing what it's been eating is the difficult way of doing this (which I would not do, just an example), but I want to know short of asking around and/or visibly seeing baitfish in your fishing area what is everyone on here doing to help determine what types of forage are available, in effort to match the hatch? Thanks!
  5. This... Is what I think about when I'm having a rough day at work, the hope of moving south someday having the time/funds to fish all the time
  6. Last fish of 2014 was accidental for me. Caught this guy on a red eye shad. Any walleye guys know if this is a walleye or saugeye? I guess we have both here in OH.
  7. I have really struggled with jigs. The few fish that I have caught on them have been fun and larger on average also. I've got two kayaks, I gotta get something for bigger waters haha!
  8. Learn to fish jigs better and buy a boat.

Off work for a couple days and just had to wet a line yesterday. Air temp was around 33, water wasn't much warmer. Pulled out this little guy off a little firetiger KVD square bill barely moving. Not much but my first fish personally in the month of December. Was gonna go out this morning but the pond in my backyard was frozen over... Guess i'll just have to watch fishing on youtube today...

I recently started using the Gamakatsu wicked wacky hooks. They've got a nice little weed guard and are obviously quality and sharp. I watch my line for action also when using wacky stick baits, or whenever I'm using stick baits for that matter. Once the bait hits the water watch the line for the thump, wait a second, give a little tug and reel in the fish, like previously mentioned, a ferocious hook set generally isn't necessary for me.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to do a quick introduction here. I'm Tim, from the Greater Columbus, Ohio area. I heard about this website from watching bassresource's videos on YouTube. Glenn has a WEALTH of knowledge. If you're reading this I've learned a ton and have more importantly caught more fish from watching those videos! I mostly bank fish, small ponds around neighborhoods and warehouses. Anywhere that looks like it's holding a fish and I can get permission to fish. I have fished some of the larger waters up here (buckeye, alum, deer creek) but do not personally own a boat so I don't get out to the larger bodies of water that often. My PB is around 4lb this spring. Not huge in comparison to some but decent for us midwest guys I suppose. The outdoors are definitely my passion, I enjoy bowhunting in the fall months and have some family down in SW Florida, I try to get down there and do some saltwater work at least once a year. Looking forward to being a member here and learning from some of the experts!
