  2. spinner baits are a great bait to adapt into your regular go to baits! learning to day fish them is an art that will probably never be mastered. when you throw a spinner bait always make sure your cast is as accurate as possible, if you are fishing timber or buckbrush edges or or grass lines or "windy banks" make sure you are casting to a certain spot if in timber throw a foot behind where you think the fish will lay and always cast in the "y" shape that branches will make from the tree. you will want to, almost exclusively use an underhand cast to improve accuracy but more importantly it will allow you to drop your blade in there silently and once it hits the water you give it a quick twitch....bang you got a reaction bite. when fishing windy bank you are fishing on a day the winds are above 8 mph, and you are fishing sections of bank or riprap bank you can go for far casts but make sure the angle your bait comes back is in the strike zone al long as possible such as paralleling. when you get that chop on the water keep the bait riding high in the water column( this is achieved through reel speed as well as rod tip level) this will decrease the vision of the fish and make them more susceptible to eating what your throwing. i obviously like the blades but if you practice laying that thing in there nice and smooth i think you'll grow to enjoy it, good luck out there!
  3. lake alatoona is a garbage lake. spots ckoked out the largemouth and all the dink largemouth they put in are only going to get a pound bigger, fished mondays and saturdays out there for two years. never caught more than fifteen pounds except for the spawn. absolute desert with a sweetgum brush pile every five feet
  4. this guys got it so right!! you NEED to be fishing faster. too many times guys fish worm behind a guy thats power fishing and your already done. if you plan on fishing co angler for a while, become a proficient power fisherman its almost always the best bet from behind the boat and its good for when your running the troll. but spot on smallieking
  5. You dont do anything different, step up to every tournament like your fishing against a field of ringers and you will always benefit. now to the real question "I fish a local lake quite a bit and my partner and I consistenly catch 30 - 40 fish, but only only weigh in 1 keeper. What can we do different?" The lake i started tourney fishing is a desert with a terrible ecosystem, there are good fish in it but they are greatly outnumbered by small sopts. heres what changed the game for me, spots are naturally mean hungry fish and they capitalize on their opportunities much more than largemouth which means reaction baits are phenominal. now lets say im fishing the chatterbait to start on shallow riprap and im mainly catching twins i can rule out ahst spot and know the fish are active(if their choking it) if they are short striking im throwing a spinnerbait instead but i change the type of shallow fishing i do. ill move from the riprap to inside marina rock or points. if you start getting crushed on that bite then grind it out if not then move onto finesse worms or small jigs on deep rock or bluff walls. basically you need to change until you find them and what they want and when you do youll know it, dinks turn into twos and threes and when you make another little change youll hopefully get into some kickers. but you wont win them all sometimes the kitchen sink and the tub isnt enough to get bit. hope that helps, go out and catch em
