  1. A front had just blown out of the area (I honestly wasn't expecting much success). The wind was somewhat sporadic. Im sure weather had some influence along with evening approaching. I guess I was just surprised. If I had the Jon boat out there I would have chased deeper fish. I'm new to the pond/lake and still have a lot to check out. Thanks for the input fellas! If I recognize a related pattern i'll be sure to add the details. Who doesn't like taking on the challenges of a new fishing hole? Variables and and going with your gut feeling are part of what makes fishing so addicting, rewarding, and interesting to talk about. Take it easy!
  2. I thought my word-play was somewhat clever haha My guess was solunar patterns had something to do with the bite. Blame it on the moon. Thanks Will
  3. I decided to hit a new little sweet spot pond this afternoon. I started fishing around 430pm. My first cast was a carnival quarter toss. I must have put it right in front of his face because I set the hook as soon as I clicked the reel over. Ratl trap. Landed another right after. Senko. Then it was like a busted high school party. The bite completely vanished. I stayed until sundown hoping to complete the hat trick. I tried a variety of approaches, colors, retreives. Nothing. I didn't notice any significant weather changes. There were shifting gusts of wind all evening. 5 o'clock hit and it was shutout central. Any ideas? Just food for discussion. happy with the two 3-4 pounders tho!
  4. Thank you all! I dedicate this piglet I caught earlier today to you.
  5. My name's Josh. I'm always willing to talk fishing, but I'd rather just GO fishing. I've been fishing my whole life. It is something my dad made sure he passed down to me. Although his life was shortened, I'm thankful for every minute we were able to fish together. In fact (side note) I am working on putting a design together for a tattoo in his honor. I was thinking a spinnerbait with his initials on one of the blades. Anyways, I'll see you all around the forums, and I hope to contribute to the cause whenever possible. Bass Wishes Lunker_Buster
  6. I've found consistent success with creature soft-baits. My favorite would have to be skirted grubs, 4" or 5", in a watermelon seed color. In most cases I'll throw it without any added weight. It should have a slow fall action when stopped, the tails and skirt flare out, which is usually when it gets smoked. A slight twitch during the fall might trigger a strike as well. http://www.overstockbait.com/OBAIT-5-Twin-Tail-Skirted-Grub-p/djp-tsg.htm The link is in case you can't picture the bait I'm describing. I usually set it up weedless so I can let it fall in or around any cover. Wacky worm rigs are another favorite. Just my 2 cents. Some people are skeptical about creature baits, but if you're already a fan, then its old news. I see a lot of top-water or near top-water hits in warm weather. Good topic.
