Good Entry Level Fish Finder/depth?
Yeah, mine will be console mounted. I was also looking at the Elite-5 but don't want to spend that kind of cash right now. The Elite-4x HDI is slotted right in the middle and I have noticed you can't get a much better unit without jumping way up in price. I think I will order one.

Good Entry Level Fish Finder/depth?
How do you like the Lowrance Elite-4x HDI? I am considering options in the 200-300$ range and have been giving this unit a serious look.

Transducer Location Help
Hey Wayne, No step on the bottom of my boat so all good there. The transducer is just to the right of the hull strake and not in-line. I have ordered a new fishfinder/transducer and will install it and see if it makes a difference or not.

Transducer Location Help
Thanks for the help/suggestions. I am unsure of what I am going to do. It's a crap unit for sure but not sure I want to upgrade right now. Anyhow I have attached 2 photos of my boat if you guys could take a look and tell me what you think I will go from there.

Transducer Location Help
Too funny, I have been thinking this exact thing but I thought I would explore the placement of the transducer first before I condemn the unit. I know it's a cheap, below entry level unit in my opinion but I gotta say I am quite disappointed in the unit. I wanted to make sure transducer location was correct before I considered upgrading. Will this transducer work with other units? I really do not know a whole lot about them.

Transducer Location Help
Thanks for the input. It pretty much stops working above trolling speed. I have tried adjusting it on the bracket some (moved up and down) and played with the angle but the result is the same. I have checked it at wide open and it looks like I am getting a pretty good rooster tail off of it. I will take a photo of my actual boat and post it here later on.

Transducer Location Help
Greetings, I recently purchased a new 2014 Tracker Pro 170. It came with a Lowrance X-4 Pro fish finder (not impressed with the unit). The manual says it should work at wide open throttle (I really just want depth reading, not a complete picture/graph) but it doesn't. After doing some research I believe it's how and where the transducer is mounted. I found a photo online (not my boat) of the transom of this particular model. My transducer is mounted in just about the same spot. Can anyone tell me if this location is correct, and if not what the correct location is?

Abu Garcia Revo S Vs Shimano Citica
I have both. My opinion is both are excellent reels. I find myself using the Revo S more, though my opinion is biased towards Abu Garcia so take it with a grain of salt. No reliability issues with the Revo S or the Citica but I haven't had the chance to use either of them extensively. My vote is for the Revo S.

Opinions Of Duckett Ghost
Darn, Wish the Vertias was still on sale for 39.99, I have been wanting one. But I am also considering the Duckett Ghost as well.

What Test Braid Should I Use?
It is my understanding that stronger braid is of similar diameter as mono (I think 30lb braid is equivalent in diameter to 8lb test mono in spider wire stealth and power pro) so you can use up to 65lb Sufix or power pro braid on a stick that has a max of 17lb test mono. But it does vary by brand and there is a chart that spells this out. If I am incorrect on this I am sure I will be corrected.

St. Croix Mojo Bass Vs. Eyecon. Can Someone Explain The Real Differences?
OP, When I was looking to buy a new stick for a frog setup I checked out the mojo bass and saw on their website it was purple. No way would I buy a purple rod. I went to the local DSG and they had the line of mojo bass rods and they were not the same color purple like the website showed but more of a black cherry color. I bought one and it looks fine. I still think they need to change the color though as I am not too wild about it, but it's a very nice rod.

Abu Garcia Orra S Vs Penn Fierce
The Abu Garcia Orra S has an alloy frame, it is not plastic. The components are also pretty corrosion resistant with stainless steel bearings, main shaft, and other components. It's a great reel and comes with a braid ready aluminum spool and a spare spool for mono, but you can tie mono to the aluminum spool. I use mine almost every time I go fishing. The Pflueger President, as mentioned, is also a great reel. Very smooth with 10 bearings but has a graphite body and rotor. You may see this as a negative but I do not. Of the two reels I prefer the Orra S. I do not saltwater fish but if you plan to do mostly saltwater fishing then I would more than likely go with the reel that is made specifically for saltwater, the Penn. If fishing freshwater then the Abu Garcia Orra S has my vote. My opinion is probably a little biased as I use a ton of Abu Garcia gear, but I have had no quality issues and their support is top notch should you need it from what I have read. They are also quick to respond to the emails I sent them with product questions.

Best Spinning Reel Under $100 For Drop Shotting
My experience with the Pflueger President is the same as yours. Amazing reel for the price and quite possibly one of the more underrated spinning reels out there for less than $100.00. I tried a Shimano Sonora and ended up returning it for another reel, but I am currently considering the Symetre or Saros.

Best Spinning Reel Under $100 For Drop Shotting
I like the Abu Garcia Orra S. Comes with 2 spools and has an alloy frame. Should be able to pick it up for around $70.00. I also have a Pflueger President that I like as well.

Question About My Frog Setup
Thanks guys, I will take it out a few more times and see what happens.
