Lake Michigan Salmon Run
I, like many, will be taking it easy from bass fishing for a little while as the Salmon make their run inland to spawn. Usually I stick to fishing the harbors because you can catch fish that are still somewhat alive and edible especially at the start of the run. Just wondering if anyone else out there shore fishes for salmon on the great lakes and what lures/presentations produce for you A few of my favorites are the bomber fat free shad and just your standard salmon skein and slip bobber rig

First Fish On A Frog
Caught my first 5 fish on the frog!! Went out today not really knowing how to fish a frog and ended up doing pretty well. The first one was a real nice 3 pounder too which was a pleasant surprise considering most of the other bass on that lake are < 2#. Missed about 7 other fish while I was at it but I guess that's just part of the learning process. All in all a great day and some of the most exciting fishing I've ever done. A couple pictures of the first fish:

Biggest Smallie
the fish in my avatar. 22" long, didn't have a scale with me so not sure about the weight. the bass weight to length chart puts it at 6.5# so my guess would be somewhere in the 6# range. caught on the Rapala Skitter Pop

Aloha From Wisconsin
Hello! I Decided to check out this site after seeing a few of bassresource's videos on youtube and it looked like I could really learn a lot by becoming a member. I've been fishing my whole life (mostly panfish) but got into bass fishing a few years ago. I do most of my fishing from my kayak in south eastern wisconsin but am addicted to catching the monster smallies up in the door county/sturgeon bay area. Glad to be a part of the forum!

Tell Us The Odd, Strange, Or Weird Way You Have Landed A Bass
Sight fishing in my kayak for smallies earlier this summer in northern Wisconsin. I spotted what ended up being a 5# bass and casted my popper just past it and it inhaled the lure before I could even pop it once. After a good long fight it managed to wrap the line around as well as bury one of the trebles into a reed. The water was too deep for me to lean over and try to free the fish so i uprooted the reed and pulled the fish out with it
