  1. I think just one moderator for all sites is a great idea. In fact, there's a bunch of improvements I can think of. Why, once I went out fishing and didn't catch anything!
  2. Whenever I go fishing with somebody in their boat I'm glad to share the cost and the chores. If I go fishing in my boat with somebody who doesn't share, that's the last time I go fishing with him. But normally, I'm fishing with a friend and there are no problems.
  3. Ice fishing for smallmouth seems a lot like an exercise in masochism to me, but I understand that when you gotta fish, you gotta fish. All the suggestions I've heard sound good, but I'd add that you might get some very light bites as well. Keep an eye out, always use a stinger hook, and if you don't catch anything go walleye fishing. At least they're good to eat.

Thanks, guys. It's good to be welcomed.
  5. I have always fished in Northwestern Ontario. All I've ever caught is smallmouth with a five-pounder being a big one around here. But I usually catch my limit and I am used to being the only one on the lake.

Hi, I'm Dubya. I live in Northwestern Ontario and I've been fishing for sixty years, for trout, walleye, salmon, and smallmouth bass. I'd like to catch a largemouth someday, but we don't have them around here. These days I fish mostly up the Black Sturgeon Road, where there are a number of lakes as well as the Black Sturgeon River. My grandparents taught me to fish. They were meat fishermen, which meant they piled everyone into the boat that could hold a rod. I was four years old when I first got piled into the boat, and the first fish I caught was a smallmouth bass. I loved it. I still do.
