  1. I have been seeing peoples rod systems and they have a separate rod for jigs/plastics and a rod for flippin/pitchin. Now, i understand where you would use your flippin stick, but where would you use a separate jig/plastic rod besides for flippin and pithcin? Aren't you primarily flippin jigs and plastics anyway?
  2. Nice! I'm in the market for a 2 switch verb now... I play a mim strat through an ac15. It does alright. My pedal chain goes: Em drive-->OCD-->VP jr.-->Some old boss chorus, CE-5 I think?--> TC Nova repeater, and a ditto. I have plenty more pedals to buy
  3. Yeah, when we troll lake Michigan, we religiously keep a log. It helps when the thermocline disappears in june, and you can't seem to buy a bite. I'm hoping that I can catch enough bass to start seeing patterns.
  4. When I'm not fishing you can usually find me on the geehtar. I was wondering if there are any other pickers out there! If you play, what guitar/rig do you run?
  5. I only ever weigh big ones (for me thats like 4 lbs), my personal best was never measured though, I just know that it is my biggest.
  6. One time we grilled bass with salt and pepper, the texture was a little strange, but it was pretty dang good!
  7. There are plenty of great articles on this website to get you started. I would start in the bass fishing for beginners section. The people on this forum are great, so if after reading you need some clarifications many would be happy to help. Good luck.
  8. Feel free to use it, I forgot to add time so I fixed it in this one. FISHING LOG.pdf
  9. I think this will work *edit, This one has time too. FISHING LOG.pdf
  10. I found the bass resource fishing log and liked it, but for my own personal use I needed something slightly different, so I made this one.(I hope the link works) https://drive.google.com/?tab=mo&authuser=1#folders/0B6ZPAngVYV2KUFJORVE3TW1GRGc FOW stands for feet of water-- I would probably write 5 in 12 if my bait was5 feet down in 12 fow L/SM stands for largemouth/smallmouth (If there is no hyperlink, copy and paste should work) Do you guys usually use a log? I'm just getting into bass so I'm trying to find patterns and stuff. Let me know what you think!
  11. Hey guys, I am relatively new to the forum, and I thought that it would be good to introduce myself. I have been fishing ever since I can remember, and have loved it since then too. Most of my fishing time and energy is spent trolling the big waters of lake Michigan for salmon, or fly roddin river smallies, and panfish. Usually the most I ever targeted bass (besides river smallies) is while panfishing i'll drop down a senko and catch one maybe. But I have been very interested in conventional bass fishing the last few weeks because I have just learned that our high school is participating in the first ever west michigan high school bass tournament. I signed up, and I am super exited to get out and try this bass thing.
  12. I see these all the time, and I don't know what they are called, or how to fish them. Some guy my dad works with gave us 4 plano boxes of gear three years ago and included were a whole bunch of these guys. What are they called, and what is the best way to fish them?
  13. Thinly sliced and deep fried. I generally don't eat bass; they're not as good as panfish, but if on swallows the hook bad, I'll eat 'em no problem.
  14. Hey guys, I'm lookin for a crankbait rod, but I don't want to spend more than 50 bucks... I was wondering what rods you guys would recommend. Would an ugly stick work well?
  15. Hey I was wondering if there are any fellow michiganders out there! I'm just getting back into bass fishing. Do any of you guys know when the michigan prespawn and spawn typically occur. I always read about that stuff starting in February or march because they are all from the south. I'd also like to know what your favorite lakes are! Thanks!
  16. Hey guys, I was wondering if you guys could help me with structure. I have always heard fisherman talk about ledges and shelves. What are those? I have an idea, but what exactly are they and how are they different. Thanks!
  17. Hey guys, I haven't bass fished in years. I was wondering if there are any general rules of thumb that go with how bass interact with the weather conditions. Like water clarity, air pressure, temp( I know more about this), time of day, wind... etc...Thanks!
