  1. Spanish, blues, anything really. They throw a lot of Gotcha plugs at the pier I fish from. This will be my third year. I have used a hi lo rig with Fish Bites and had some success. I was wanting to try something different and these were a lot cheaper for me to tie myself than to buy Gotcha plugs.
  2. I'm not sure if this is the right sub-forum but... I'm heading to the ocean next month and wanted to try the "bubble rig." I was looking for recommendation of the size of float that is necessary. One site referenced two inches. I was able to find a store that had a 12 pack of 1-3/4" bubbles for $2.99. Alternatively I can order one 2-1/2" for $0.96 site to store from Walmart. What do you think? Are the 1-3/4" big enough or will I wish I would have gotten the larger ones? Thanks.
  3. There are no prizes. That was posted here or on another bass forum by the MLF owners. It is like a co op owned by the anglers and some others. Winning is for bragging rights and everyone wins because they all get a cut from the massive marketing machine.
  4. Is there a name for this color? The one on the left. I was only able to find one other bait with a similar coloring (Bomber Fat free) and they called it "threadfin shad."
  5. I thought that was what they were but the different nose, eye, and gill bulge threw me off. Thanks for the help. Are they still considered Super Spots or do they have a different name? I think these are the "bait bonanza" lures. I may have gotten them from Dick's or Walmart.
  6. They are very similar to Cotton Cordell Super Spots but do not have the embossed writing on the side. Two of the are the same colors as CC baits. They have a raised gill area and a 3D red eye. I can't remember where I got them from. The lips are flat across like a Rat-l-trap instead of rounded like the CC's or SK red eye shads. Any ideas?
  7. I ended up getting an Ardent Evercast horizon. It cost me $0.83 (that's right, 83 CENTS). I read that it is the same as the Victory and it looks similar to me. Thanks for the help.
  8. The credit card deal expires tomorrow morning though. https://secure.rakuten.com/ac/Rakutencard.aspx
  9. Check out Rakuten.com. If you apply for their credit card they will give you $60 credit instantly. They have quite a few reels to choose from. I got an Ardent Evercast for $0.83. If my research is correct it is the same reel as the Skeet Reese Victory. They also have Quantum Accurist PT for around $80 so it would be about $20. Can't beat that.
  10. Okay. You guys have got me thinking. I will avoid the cheaper reels. Which of these three would you recommend...victory, accurist, or lew's laser mg?
  11. My budget is very low. I paid about $50 for my Daiwa strikefore/megaforce combo. I'm looking to do the same with my new setup.
  12. Thanks Darren. I've been trolling the forums for a few years. I just hadn't registered because there is so much info here I haven't had a question that wasn't already answered.
  13. I have a Daiwa Strikeforce reel(magnetic brake) on a megaforce rod. I really like it. Have you personally used any of the reels? Thanks for your time and opinion.
  14. I want a baitcaster to spool with mono for topwater, buzz baits, etc. I can get one of these three reels for within $10 difference. Skeet Reese victory Pinnacle Matrix MXS100 (from Dick's) Daiwa Laguna Which have you used and would recommend?
