Zack, there is lots of good fishing in NOVA. Check out the Virginia game and inland fisheries page, it lists places to fish by region. Also, if you are on facebook, look up Northern Virginia Fishing, it's a great resource for NOVA fishing.

I believe the "Chick" has bounced back, and don't laugh, but do not overlook the Potomac.

I've seen many gators while fishing, but only one seemed to not have any fear of humans, but they seem to be much more aggressive there.

I'm new here, and have been down AA a few times, and would love to fish it. I have a canoe, and reading some of the posts, it seems most use bass boats, but is it completely crazy to use a canoe to fish the canals?

I'm in the Clearwater area, and hit most of the local waters.

I would also consider Kerr Lake(also called Buggs Island), it's on the Virginia and North Carolina border. 50,000 acres, with plenty of bass, catfish, bream and stripers. Lots of room, and not too crowded.

If you watch the average angler on channel 47, that's his main mode of fishing. He has fished Seminole, Alligator, Walshingham lakes, and I'm sure other local lakes, and I've never seen him have any issues.

New here from the West Coast of Florida, I will fish for just about anything that swims, but mostly bass or catfish.
