  1. ZOOM watermelon seed green is my new addiction. It is the only thing I am throwing and I am slaughtering the fish right now.
  2. I was curious because I don't know of many bass lakes down there. I know to the east you have some reservoirs for NYC drinking water. I was hoping you could clue me in on some new water Probably your best bet is to jump on Rt.81 and head to Tully lake. Awesome fishing but no boat ramp. Have to hand launch which is what keeps the lake special.
  3. I am living in Marathon NY which is relatively close to you. Where are you fishing down there ?
  4. Grew up fishing upstate NY. Cortland NY to be exact. Fish all the finger lakes and smaller lakes too. Now spending winters in Florida and fishing everywhere I can. My base lake for Florida is Tsala Apopka chain In NY my base lake is Deruyter lake and Otisco lake.
  5. Summers in Deruyter ! I fish Deruyter lake quite a bit. My cousin has a camp there also.
  6. Try Google or just ask your nearest boat dealer.
  7. I think we are well beyond blaming the user. The user ( me) has made it very clear he has MANY baitcasters and has NO problems with any of the other reels. I am not sure how this could be much clearer. Issue is obviously with the specific reel mentioned. Read entire posts before responding
  8. And yes, that is a S.U. hoodie. There is no other team in college basketball ! The Orange are New York States home town team !
  9. this bass in my Avatar is the female I am talking about.
  10. I agree, I also believe how the previous winter behaved is a big factor in the spawn. I was catching female bass full of eggs about 3 weeks after ice out last year. Lakes were ice until April in Upstate NY.
  11. I have read and researched this for months. Supposedly around 50° is the magic #. Problem I had was it never got below 69° here in Florida. . So I threw all that info out the window and found my own info. Here the females are just now starting to bed and temps are 79° -84° So go figure You know what, I don't know
  12. I have a 08 Yamaha F60 outboard motor that the NADA value is between $4,200 -4,800. The dealership I went to in Inverness Florida offered $2,700 for a trade in towards a new 90hp. How close to the NADA value could I expect to get ? 2700 just seems a little low.
  13. Tell me about it. I just paid $300 for a ss prop. Upon installation I noticed my output shaft is bent. Noticeable by eye so it must be bent pretty good. Hope it holds up. I did manage to add 3 mph with the new prop.
  14. Long nose gar I believe. Didn't have those dark spots that yours has. More green in color. I earned the nickname Lucky that day. Caught the gar and a 20lb snapping turtle that day along with a mess of 4 foot 30lb Northern pike.
  15. For the record they are called Lumber Jill's. My youngest daughter went to SUNY ESF. For forestry management and she was on the woodsman team. Females are Lumber Jill's
  16. I caught a 4 footer in upstate NY a few years back. Had it mounted and when I went to pick it up, the guy tried to make it look fatter than it was and ruined the fish. On the back side there was a gap of about 2 inches, and the lower fins were pointing out on it's side. Upset as I was I told him to keep it, I didn't want it.
  17. I am taking the day off from fishing. Going to see sbout trading in my 60hp Yamaha on a 90. I am going to take the reel apart and clean and lube it. Going to look it over. Probably change the line for the heck of it.
  18. I have 4 other baitcast setups that I have zero problems with. Pretty sure that it's not me.
  19. Can you buy a cheap kayak or inflatable ? Bank fishing is fine for a while, but limited to shore access.
  20. I have not had any problems at all using 20lb Power pro braid on any other of my baitcasters. I prefer to use as light of a line as I can get away with. I feel the lure moves better with light line. I feel my success rate is higher with lighter line. Last week I went to Okeechobee and put 40lb on 2 outfits for the first time. That's the only reason I have 40 available.
  21. Kind of makes sense. I was having trouble with pitching the lizard more than casting it. I bet you are right, my line is to flimsy to pitch it well.
  22. Hey, if switching out the line is the fix , I am in. How does 40 sound ? I have some spooled with 20, and some with 40. Any help would be appreciated.
  23. I believe they are set to on. They are slid towards the word "on" . They are loose and free to pivot. When set to off. They are locked in position. Now I must admit I am assuming that I am right I did not read any directions.
