Jigs
Fished a football jig for a solid 2 hours around a ton of rock and boulders and Adventually it got snagged down there. Was worth it, felt everything on the bottom.. any other bait would've been gone long before 2 hours!

Addicted to buying fishing gear
Ya great points all around. Nothing makes me laugh more than when I purchase a new reel, and head out to the water with a fire in my eyes, full of confidence and a mental determination to catch high numbers, and big ass bass- to get nothing. Haha! My new gear stays pretty new for a long time

Addicted to buying fishing gear
I don't get to fish that often, but I enjoy researching and picking up new equipment- especially when a sale is on. Anyone else have trouble saying no to buying copious amounts reels, tackle etc? I think of my reels and Rods as collection items!

What rod and reel should I buy?
Rod get the Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 line.. very decent for $100 go with the 7'3" MH fast model and reel, can't go wrong with shamano citica runs around $150, go with the highest speed ratio u can find

Reels and ratios
Ya IPT is more important to me than gear ratio. You want something with a high IPT for topwater, pitching and flippin'.... however Aaron Martens is one of the best in the game and he uses high Ratios for everything.. and I absolutely agree with him.. why not buy all fast reels and slow down your retrieve? I'm done buying slow reels... 7's and 8's for me from here on out.. people like 6's for cranking.. but I prefers to slow myself down and speed up as I please... higher ratio equals more control heres a link to what im talking about

Big fish slump
Watch and episode of bass master elite series events, and you won't see the pros catching many fish over 5lbs (in most events, there are expeditions where a location is stacked with big ones) The +5ers, and hard to find. Seems like once they find a big one tho, the school will be all the same size and they can pull in a few big ones.. Also Seems like power fishing works well with the big boys. (Spinnerbait, Chatterbait etc) And the all mighty jig as well..! I've caught my biggest on a jig... good luck man hopefully u get that plus 5 soon!

Fishing from the Bank in fall
Waters have hit 45 and continue to drop daily.. At what point is it gonna be almost impossible to catch from the bank? Im going to try and give it one last go this weekend, but I'm assuming it might be quiet, don't the fish typically move deep once it gets that cold? thx

Jigs for fall bass
I've seen a lot of articles with top 5 fall baits being: jerkbait crankbait spinnerbait swimbait top water how does the jig hold up? i fished a jig late last fall and it was super slow to find fish, but once I did I caught some nice size and numbers.. just seems as tho it's not as popular a bait as in the summer from the pro's articles. Thoughts?

Bank fishing, where to find bass in fall?!
Looking for some handy tips on where to target Largies and Smallies on a large river system from the bank? I find the largies in the spring and summer where the current is calm and the Lily's and pads/slop are.. will they still be holding there come fall? i usually find smallies near rock and in heavy current during fall.. and summer hard to catch as I assume they are in the deep water. Should I target mostly rip rap from the bank? There isn't much wood where I fish.. would large rock areas hold fish also? Pretty limited with options on finding cover from the bank...

High speed IPT reel suggestions
Hey guys, I recently purchased the Diawa Tatula type R 100 with the 8.0.1 ratio. i was under the impression this would have a high IPT... it only has a 31 IPT... i have the Abu revo SX in the 7.1 and that has an IPT of 29... what im getting at is I thought I would've gotten much more IPT in getting something with an 8 gear ratio... but he difference was only 2 inches.. i noticed some higher priced reels in an 8 or even 9 gear ratio have high IPT.. but the prices are super high!! is there anything in the 150-200$ range with a high IPT?? wanna get something with very high IPT for pitching and get my bait back gas for more pitches!! I mean but maybe 31" is sufficient enough? Will I really notice a 2" difference?? thanks!

How do I avoid pike?
I find wire baits like spinnerbaits, buzz baits, chatter baits etc I don't break off if a Pike hits.. sometimes with other baits I get a bite thinking its a bass and go to set the hook hard, and the line cuts immediately (pike for sure) but never seem to lose them on wire baits... ive caught a few nice Pike on jigs also.. Where I am from Pike are everywhere... But if I'm catching bass or pike that day I'm happy... I'm not a tournament angler so any fight is a good fight! If you keep breaking off, try something with a wire and catch those suckers!!

Heading to Naples Florida, is there bass fishing?
Hey guys, Gonna be heading to Naples Florida this November (heritage bay resort/golf) to be exact. Would love to know if I can bank fish for bass in that location close by anywhere..? I have no idea where to start... I was maybe even wondering if I could fish at the golf course pond At heritage bay if possible?? (Do all Florida golf ponds have bass?! Lo) if not I don't mind taking a drive to pond, or creek etc... im from Canada and there are no bass in ponds up here.. From YouTube it seems like every pond in Florida has bass, is that true?! Lol ill pack a rod if so, if not. I'll just golf! also, how does it work for a Week long fishing licence even if it's for bank fishing for a non Local...? thanks!!

Bass coming off after jumping
Wow thanks for all the replies guys. i should've mentioned I was using a tube. i was fighting some decent smallies. And would try and tire them out.. I don't have a net so when I would go to grab them, sometimes they would jump and throw the tube, lost at the boat.. Sometimes I feel like fighting them too long also works agains you in that they can also come off underwater... i will definitely try the technique of keep the rod in the water.. Also. When the jump I won't stop reeling... i also think the weight tube hooks I were using aren't that great.. Gonna get some better ones!

how to fish tubes for smallies
*Update Tubes are now my favourite small mouth bass bait!! i went out with some guys who were throwing them and we're doing well on it. So I decided to throw one on and caught ALL day! They gave me some pointers and I had a blast fishing it. It reminds me of fishing jigs for largies, same big hookset. sometimes I find seeing someone else catching off a lure helps confidence for someone who's not used to throwing it. I caught my PB this weekend and gonna go stalk up my tube collection, great fun!

Bass coming off after jumping
Lost a few smallies the other day... Hooked em good, took my time and brought them to the boat only for them to jump out of the water and throw the bait. I was trying to keep my rod tip low so they wouldn't jump but that didn't help.. what should I try next time to keep them from throwing the hook? Thanks

Setting the hook... Into nothing.
I find when I go without a bite for a long time, I start to set the hook into nothing. Well, not nothing, but mostly weeds, pads, branches, rocks.. Anything but a fish. When the bad boys are hitting, this never happens. I guess I just start to feel "phantom bites". This ever happen to you?

some backlash help revo sx
A 3/8 ounce frog works perfectly. If I switch to a 3/8 spinnerbait, it can happen... I have to keep the breaks rather high (7-8) for it to work properly it seems.. Losing some distance but not getting any back lash..

Top waters and when to throw
i just killed it with a hollowed body frog on my outing today, right as the sun was setting the bass smoked it.. make sure you feel the weight of the fish on ur line before you set the hook. I had 5 blow ups and caught 3 in 1hr. if youre getting blow ups and missing fish, thats a little different that not getting blowups.. if your not getting blowups it might mean the fish arent there or arent interested in that moment. for top water try and stick with morning or sunset.. you may get the odd one during the day but you wont get the same numbers as when the suns low

Casting crankbaits
ive heard of guys long lining deep cranks..put the crank in the water behind the boat and leave the bail of the reel open and troll the boat and your line out. Then engage once you've let a lot of line out and reel in.

some backlash help revo sx
ya maybe its braid digging, how do i fix that? i guess once i start casting with the reel once its set up properly then it'll be good to go? should the bait fall at half speed or slower fall? thanks!!!
