  1. wow ya thats nice but out of my fishing budget, wanted to stay around the 150-160$ range
  2. it seems to be in the middle of the cast. it launches out nicely, and will just make a "THUNK" sound and stop the bait, i then pick out the nest and re throw.. gonna mess around with it some more.. i can bomb this reel very far, i like it i know its just a matter of tweeking. thanks for the advice! cool, will try that next time i head out.. does wind make a factor with the break? do u ever adjust it on the fly to compensate the wind? also when would u ever put it at 0? im guessing that could get messy. thanks
  3. Can't really seem to set my reel up perfectly. But i seem to get more backlash/birds-nests out of my revo sx then my shimano citica.. Should i adjust the spool tension nob tighter to avoid backlashes or tighten the breaks mostly??? my backlashes arent to the point i cant fish, it takes me 10 seconds to pull it out but it happens pretty often out there with this new reel, never happened to me before.. thanks guys
  4. I fish the regular ones Caffeine shad and Bass smoke these things all year. I go out with a few guys and its all the throw. I like to switch it up, but when i do, the other guys keep catching and my bite turns down.. These baits are off the hook, like you said they are completely snag proof, and you can cover a ton of water. I disagree on their durability tho. I can catch 1-2 bass on them before they're done. cheers
  5. Hi Guys, so i recently bought the Abu Gracia REVO SX in the 7.1.1 ratio and i absolutely love it. I want to get a higher gear ratio for my next set up and was wondering what there is out there in the same price range that can compare to the REVO sx... I like the revo for its lightness and power. But they dont make anything higher than the 7.1.1.. suggestions and links/pictures will be appreciated!
  6. Was fishing spares vegitation the other day, it mostly consisted of pads. I found most of the bass were near the bank and some could be found scattered around. I fished the KVD caffeine shad and it did VERY well. You can cast it out and work a lot of area. U can swim it, jerk it, and let it fall still like a senko. I also fished a spinnerbait and a frog, spinnerbait- caught a few, and the frog was good at points but a lot of missed hooksets. Here's what I'm getting at: I really wanted to pitch a jig or creature plastic. I tied one on but didn't stick it out too long.. The caffeine shad worked so well it was hard not to throw it.. I found pitching I couldn't cover as much water with it, so I stuck with the shad to give me long casts and cover much more area. How do you guys approach a large sparse area of vegitation? What is the best technique to locate bass?! thanks

  8. i never throw a tube for smallmouth.. I have some tubes, but never know when to fish them. I was very successful this weekend caching smallies on a senko and jerkbait. lost a few on n drop shot also, im new to drop shotting and either pulled the hook from the fishes mouth or missed the hook set completely and they took my robo worm! when would i throw a tube over a senko or jerkbait??? i always use what i know will work, and seeing as how i know senkos and jerkbaits work.. why and when go to a tube??
  9. I added a small drop of lube but not a full undo and redo, I'm not good with messing around with reels and all that.
  10. I think my shimano citica isn't working to potential. i cast it out and honestly it doesn't go very far... The reel seems to slow down the bait and loses speed fast. Breaks are on low, and my tension nob is set per bait properly.... I just realized how bad it was because I bought a Revo Sx this year and was blown away by how far it casts.. i understand it's a better reel, but I'm almost positive now that my citica isn't throwing to potential.. How do I fix it? thanks
  11. ya i think the fish might've just slapped it.. It was my first time fishing the jitterbug and the action looks great. kind of like a buzzbait but not as aggressive. i'm definitely gonna throw it more often! true, they dont seem like great hooks
  12. Was fishing the jitter bug and had a bass jump for the lure. Didn't see the bait anymore and went to set the hook only for the bait to come flying back at me. Did the fish miss it or did I pull it from its mouth.. I Waited a pause before hookset.. i guess I tried to set the hook hard like a frog. Is that why I missed it? What's the technique for a treble hook top water bait like that? rod was a 7'6 medium heavy Veritas. 65lbs braid thanks!!
  13. Early on during the season is a large or small profile better? or is it the same based year round on forage
  14. I read somewhere once that throwing a jerkbait should only be used if the water clairty is decently clear. Is this true? What would be the minimum visabilty to throw a jerkbait to be very effective? Also what would be a better alternative to throw for cold water pre spawn bass to cover water and locate bass? Thanks!
  15. I've used mainline Seagate invisX 5' leader tied to braid. Never broke off any fish, works just fine. It's more bang for buck to buy the mainline and use it as leader. 200yrds vs 50yrds..
  16. Just curious as to what the first first bait you will throw at the beginning of a new season? I think I'll go with the ol' trusty spinnerbait! Or the jerk bait. Or the jig. Or the crankbait... Decisions Decisions! :S
  17. Thanks guys. Gonna go back to keeping a 6' leader from now on. Once I buy some lighter fluro I'll try that out.
  18. yup, around that much, it wasnt over filled or under.. it unravels because the line seems super stiff or something.. i dunno
  19. I was making a leader with 12lbs seagar invisX fluro to a 15lbs power pro braid on my spinning real.. Decided to add a lot of fluro so i can basically be fishing directly with the fluro and not having any braid reach water on my casts... Once i was done loading it up it all the fluro unraveled. I kept a 7 foot leader and took off all the unraveled line.. Is there a way to load more line on so it stays or is this impossible with fluro on a spinning rod.. ? I know the pros strictly use fluro on their drop shot set ups etc.. so how does the line stay on??
  20. Cool thanks for the tips. i will be fishing from boat, first week of July. So it will be HOT.. Does that change anything?
  21. Hey guys, I booked a fishing trip to a small lake that holds speckled and rainbow trout. I'm pretty sure the lake is stalked yearly. I went last year for a day and caught 3 trout over 4-6 hours, not great.. I was using a worm and some split shots, and sometimes a bobber, pretty simple set up for sure. I only have bass rods that i was using with 12lbs fluro.. I am not in the budget for new rods but was wondering if i should get some smaller line to make a leader? like 4lbs test? or smaller?? What baits and techniques should i try to give myself the best option at catching those types of trout.. when i did catch them last year, they were wondering around and would nibble the line, i would have to set the hook fast or miss them. Also apparently this lake has- Lake trout.. i guess they are super deep from what ive read? any tips on how to target Lake trout as well..? more interested in catching numbers than size.... Any tips would help... Thanks
  22. Hey guys, so i have been looking into navionics for the first time and loaded up a river system i fish locally. Have never used nacionics before and have been trying to read up on what to look for and what would be considered prime locations. I mostly catch smallmouth in these water but have caught some largies in the shallow weeds and lily pads, but smallmouth numbers are way higher... If anyone can point out what would be a prime target to hit this coming season that would be great! i know i can catch them near flats and shallows in spring, but was wondering about humps and drop offs for the summer.. Also do the spots where there seems to be reverse humps (the water goes deeper in a small humo like section.. are these good to drop shot for bass! any tips would be helpful! thanks in advance! also heres the link to the location if you would like to zoom out! https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#@14&key=cqctG~v%60bM
  23. Live Target hollowed body frog. This year excited to try the new hollow body sunfish to see if it works as good!
