Thanks for the Reply Darren! I'm glad you've gotten some good use out of yours. I haven't landed anything big on it yet, but I hope that changes soon , then I can make a profile pic with a nice fish in it. Hopefully someone can shed some light on the reel. It's so strange that there isn't much info on it on the web. I have a degree in Information Technology, so I don't think it's my lack of web searching skills that leaves me short handed on the info for this thing - haha. It says 7+1 bearings. I'm not sure what that is and why it doesnt just say 8 bearing? where is the 1 located that the other 7 aren't?

Hey everyone, I'm Jason and I'm new to the forum. I'm just your average guy that likes to fish. I've been fishin since I was in diapers and thought I'd come here to build my knowledge on gear and the like. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone had any knowledge on this rod and reel I bought a few years back at Dicks Sporting goods. I don't really know much about specifications and how to determine what is good or bad based on the specifications. I've always used spinning reels; ultra light setups for smaller stuff - white bass, small mouth, perch, etc., and medium setups for large mouth and sometimes catfish, and bigger stuff for larger catfish. I've always just bought what felt good in my hands and felt smooth to reel, but other than that I am clueless as to what would be the best for different fishin. I have done several internet searches and I can not find anything on it. I honesly can't even remember how much I paid for the setup, but it reels smooth and I haven't really had any issues with it. I've caught many large mouth using a plastic worm with a texas rig, very few if any have ever gotten loose from my hook once it's set. Is this setup meant for something like that or does it really matter? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
