  1. I almost always wrap up the guide, (LTR). Butt guide first
  2. I have built single foot Micro casting rods, but I didn't have to be persuaded to do it.
  3. If I were you I would join a BASS or FLW type Bass club and fish as a non boater for a season, then make an educated decision.Might save you some $ in the long run.
  4. I use a G-Loomis IMX 6'6" Medium action with a fast tip. It is the sister rod to my Senko rod which is the same except for a MH action.
  5. There was a time when loved the serenity of fishing alone. Many trips I would drop my boat in on Tuesday afternoon and not come back to the ramp until Friday. Now its a few years later and I prefer to fish with others, especially those that are better than I.
  6. I do mine the same way Francho does. my heads are mostly 3 sizes each of Eakin's style, Football, and brush heads.
  7. You could get harder lead by melting down wheel weights BUT your molds will flow and work much better with soft lead. IMO. You can also make your powder painted soft lead heads harder by baking them.
  8. It is; Of a sort. :-)
  9. +1 for a very good answer.
  10. 33 ' water = one atmosphere= 33 p.s.i wouldn't 16-17' = about 16 p.s.i. 10-4 on the super glue.
  11. If you are running your deep divers down 16 feet that depth is right at 16 lbs of water pressure, more than enough to force feed water into any slight opening. Try putting some silicone on the hook anchors.
  12. +1 On the Zebco 33 Platinum. Great for developing the basics.
  13. I believe when you move up to big boned animals e.g. Elk, brown bear and > you need to ramp up the energy always at the expense of velocity. I leave my 270 WSM home. If I had to stay under 30 caliber it would be a 7mm STW or Roy.
  14. The only hooks I automatically change out are on Smithwick Rogues, and Zara Spooks. The others I automatically tune them and re sharpen them, especially wiggle warts.
  15. You are much better off making your own rods because: 1. You can make quality rods 40-50% cheaper than you can buy them. 2. You can build them better than the factory cosmetically, 3. Once you learn to do the wraps well you can repair and rebuild your own rods and in time repair them for others. This off sets the cost of your own. 4. I built my own hand rod wrapper out of a small used TV table having only to buy two thread tensioners and one book shelf rail for less than $10.00. That was forty years and about 400 rods ago, and I am still using it. 5. Makes your winters a lot shorter. 6 I do the rod and reel work for two large BASS and FLW Federation clubs and some retail stores. 7. Makes your winters go a lot faster.
  16. best solution for me is bag freeze the remains and put in trash rece ptacle the morning of pick up.
  17. J Hovanec provides a good plan. Bob the butt.Glass Insert or oversert another piece of blank then reream or refit a matching piece of EVA.
  18. The next record bass may come from Cuba. Florida strain with much less pressure.
  19. ~Jason, I believe every G-Loomis rod that is built by the G- Loomis facility has the size, action, power etc. on the butt with their logo. Some can pretty much tell by looking. They could also verify, for sure, by taking off the butt cap and looking for their coded mark inside the base of the blank.. However Anyone could, at the time, get an authentic G-Loomis blank without the decal. Rod builders, like myself, that bought G-Loomis blanks and were supplied factory decals by model to install with other custom modifications for resale. I have never seen a G-Loomis decal that only listed the logo without some description of the blanks character. Today with computer made decal aps bogus rods would not be hard to make. Most guys that fish "Loomis" however could tell just by picking it up. The last I heard G-Loomis no longer sells blanks.
  20. B~s98, I would say you are well on your way to "The Zone".
  21. It is called being " In the Zone" You will know it when you are in it; Feel it when you have it.
  22. +1 On Battery, loose terminal, or Kill switch.
