  1. You can always try online. Some great deals in the forums here, craigslist, ebay, dealers, and retail online. More competition, options, and better prices. Walmart makes too much money anyways, support small businesses
  2. Taking selfies with decent sized bass is very hard to do right. I have a large wingspan for my height, and I still have trouble. As far as trying to build an illusion to make a fish look bigger is just lame IMO. I will second that go pros do no justice. I used to ride motocross and super cross tracks occasionally and my buddy always had his go pro with him. It made the jumps look tiny, it made it seem like everyone was slower(mainly because you are moving), and when he would fall it seemed very minor. They are still very cool, and apply to almost anything you could want to do. My guess on the fish is 40" and 22lbs
  3. Yea, now that I think of it I had pulled in a dink and about a 2.5lbs(largies). Should have retied after the bigger one. I pulled it out of thick lilly pads and it could have easily damaged the line, at least enough to where it couldn't support one of the biggest snakehead I have seen personally, let alone had at the end of my line. I just sent my other reel back to be exchanged. It was loaded with 50lb braid and was my new go to rig. Figures. Always another day, thanks for the information and input fellas.
  4. Hello everyone! I was wondering if the strength of the line is rated for gravity and strength of average fish at that weight under water, or is it rated for deadweight(out of water)? Lost a biiig snakehead today because I didn't have a net on board and I am/was too big of a pansy to reach in and grab him. I got it not even halfway out of the water and line snapped. The fish was worn out from the fight and had conceded so it wasn't thrashing or anything at the point I tried to remove it.
  5. I caught 7 lmb in 2 hours on Saturday fishing a weightless senko. The mh veritas 2.0 was the perfect amount of rod for it. The senko is a little heavier than most other worm style baits, so maybe it is for smaller worms, but to say the mh is too much rod for a bait that gets 90% of its hits once it hits/or on the fall seems wrong to me. I also like to throw around a lot of cover and my local fishing area is infested with pads and hydrilla, so I like the stronger rod to pull them out of the mess. I am not saying a mh is better than a medium, but they are both useful tools depending on the environment you are in.
  6. I contacted the dealer and they are going to exchange the item for me. I'm very happy with their service too. I know it isn't their fault, and I am very glad I didn't have to go through a warranty claim with lews. Although I have heard they have great customer service. Thanks for the input everyone!
  7. I think you are right about the trip lever. It wasn't hard to turn the spool, it just did not feel synchronized. I'm just worried about tearing up the gears inside. I don't want to look like I am abusing the product if it does end up defective
  8. Hello everyone, I would like to start off introducing myself, I'm Nick and I am from the Aquia area in Virginia. I have been lurking the forums for a long time and I love them. So much valuable information and I haven't even scratched the surface. Well I just bought a new Team Lews Pro Speed Spool 7.1:1. I've had it for about a week and it has worked great. Very very smooth. I took it out this afternoon and caught a small largemouth. After the small fish knocked my senko off my line I rerigged with a yum dinger. I adjusted the brake and tension knob slightly and started casting. On about the fifth cast it went out fine, but when I engaged the reel and started my retrieve it felt like the the gears were off track or there was a lot of debris inside. I only turned it very slow because I immediately noticed. I adjusted the brake back up a little bit and tightened the tension knob. Still grinding. So I pulled my line In by hand and cut the excess line off. I just got home to show my dad and now the dang thing sounds and feels fine. I don't know if I should just test it in the yard for awhile or if I should have it looked at first. Any advice or knowledge would be awesome. I'm sure I can find a tread on how to properly lubricate everything. It is my first good baitcaster and I am somewhat reluctant to try and take it apart to inspect.
  9. I just got a 7' veritas2.0 mh. I like it a lot for Texas rigging. I don't know if it's the length of the rod or the action, but the hook set is great . Anything under 2lbs seems to want to fly to me or skip the top of the water.
