Need Some Stuff From Tw Asap But Also Want To Take Advantage Of The Black Friday Deals...
Oh ok. Sorry if I offended someone here. I just simply wanted to see what is possible here. If you guys do not consider any possibility to save a buck or two, than you are in a more fortunate position.

Another option that I think I have is to use the Price Protection feature of my discoverIT card. They should be able to reimburse me the difference.

Need Some Stuff From Tw Asap But Also Want To Take Advantage Of The Black Friday Deals...
Hi guys, I am wondering if you have an opinion on the following. I am looking for a Reel and a backbag from TW that would cost me around 400 USD as of today. I am wondering if I bought the items tomorrow I would eventually have the items by the weekend (I live in Cali). Though with Black Friday coming up, there might be some considerable savings in there for me in that purchase. Do you think if Tacklew warehouse would give me a credit or somehthing for the purchases that I made? My thinking is here, that I could just send the items back and order them again with the 20% discount (since I am still in the 14 days return window). Them just giving me the discount via a credit would save them and me a lot of pain and would avoid unnecessary waste of resources. What are your thoughts?

Looking For A Top Water/swimmbait Rod And Reel Set Up
I wonder why you guys are not font of the 'Okuma Scott Martin TCS Casting Rod 7'3" Heavy'? It says that it can handle lures from 1/4 to 2 ounces, it has a good backbone and a fast taper in case I wanted to throw lighter lures like frogs for example. I might get a couple of the Huddleston Deluxe Weedless Shad Swimbaits to start with my swimmbait endevour and get a single Huddleston Deluxe 68 Special Weedless to see how 'bad' it is with the Okuma. And if I really 'bite' on the whole swimbait fishing thing, I might really get a dedicated set up in a year or so. What are your thoughts on that? Thanks for your time guys!

Looking For A Top Water/swimmbait Rod And Reel Set Up
Thanks guys, I have thrown the 6.5 Biwaa on my Medium Heavy and it was okayyyy. Of course it would make sense to get x more rods for the purposes that I have listed, but since I purely do not want to spend that much money and I am also too lazy to carry 3 + x rods around with me, I would like to limit my third rod to the topics specified. What kind of reels would fit the bill? Are the Lew's and the Daiwa a good choice? Thanks guys!

Looking For A Top Water/swimmbait Rod And Reel Set Up
Thank you for your response! My assumption was that the fast taper would give me a bit flexibilty in terms of hook sets for smaller lures such as frogs and the Whopper Plopper. When you say 6:6 range for the rod? Isnt that the opposite? I thought I should go for at least a 7' -7'5" rod. Out of the two options that I posted, which would you choose and why? Thanks again for your help! Have a great Sunday!

Looking For A Top Water/swimmbait Rod And Reel Set Up
Hello again, another 'what should I buy' thread... The last time when I bought my spinning gear set up, I got some good recommendations here, so I am trying this again! I am in the market for a rod and reel combo that I was planning to use for my top water and swimbait fishing. For top water I would like to throw anything from a frog over a spook to a 130 size Whopper Plopper. In regards to swimmbaits I was planning to use it for anything from a 5" Biwaa Seven to a Huddleston Deluxe 68 Weedless (I havent bought this lure yet, so if there is anything that is a bit lighter and similar I would be open to it) . I know that this is a pretty big range, but I would like to limit my fishing gear to three rods. I have already: * BPS Extreme 7' Medium Heavy with fast taper (I have 14 pound fluro on it and use it for Smaller swimmbaits, spinner, jigs and crankbaits) * 7 foot spinning gear (use for worms and any lighter lure) * NEW ROAD AND REEL (use top water and swim baits, I was planning to put 30-40 pound braid on it) I would like to take advantage of the upcoming Black Friday deals. My total cost should not go over 350 USD (for Rod and Reel). Here are some options that I am considering: First option: Rod: Daiwa DX 7'3'' Hvy with fast Taper Reel: Daiwa Tatula Tactical. 8.1:1 left retrieve Cost together: 288 USD Option 2: Rod: Okuma Scott Martin TCS 7'3'' Heavy (Fast taper) Reel: Lew's Team Pro Speed Spool 7.1:1 Left Retrieve Cost would be 350 USD. What are you general thoughts on my approach, what do you think about the options that I am playing with and what other options am I not considering right now? Thank you. Best, Sebastian

What Would You Recommend Me For A All Around Spinning Set Up
I have a Pflueger 6940 lying around at home. Do you think that reel is too big/ heavy for such a spinning set up?

What Would You Recommend Me For A All Around Spinning Set Up
Hi guys, I am in the market for a Spinning set up. I have two Bait caster right now that I am using for frogs and swimmbaits/crankbaits. I would like to add to my arsenal a good all around spinning set up that I can use for: * Finesse (Drop shot, worms in general) * Smaller crankbaits/ small spinning lures and jigs I was thinking of something like a 7 foot rod, medium-heavy action with a fast/ extra fast tip. Line wise I was thinking to put 15-20 braid on it and then vary the leader based on my fishing: * Finesse: 8 pound fluro * Jigs: straight braid * Crankbaits: 10-12 fluro * /spinnerbaits: 8-10 mono or direct to braid. There is a new Bass Pro shop opening in San Jose next week which I want to go to and take advantage of some sales. By budget is around 150 USD. What would you recommend me? Thank you for your help! Best, Seb.

What Am I Doing Wrong? Not Even A Bite (Clear Lake On Sunny Day)
I have already quite a few Keitech swing impact lures in different sizes and colors. The Bluegill indeed works usually pretty well. Though not in the conditions I described? Also your 6inch suggestion seems rather big, no?

What Am I Doing Wrong? Not Even A Bite (Clear Lake On Sunny Day)
Thank again Tom! Will try to follow your advice! In regards to the rods. I actually have no issue using the two baitcaster to throw my swimmbaits. I havent encountered any issues that would have been obvious to me. Of course a bigger rod would give me a better leverage effect to cast it further, but I am a tall guy with some juice in my arms, so I should be good

Thanks for the quick reply! My first baitcaster set up: Rod: Bass Pro Shops XPS Extreme Trigger Rod 6.8 feet Reel: Bass Pro Shops reel 6.4:1 Second one: Abu Garcia Pro max combo. With 6.8 rod and 7.1:1 The spinning combos are basically crap. I got them from a friend for free, so I am not complaining and for some finesse fishing (without big lures or heavy line) I think they are ok. I put a Pflueger President Spinning Reel (10-Pound/230-Yard) on one of them, which is basically overkill of a reel for the rod. Eventually I want to get a new spinning rod, once I have enough 'fishing money' on the side again Email a friend PRINT Bass Pro Shops XPS Extreme Trigger Rod

What Am I Doing Wrong? Not Even A Bite (Clear Lake On Sunny Day)
Yeah, lots of bluegill and little bass. Thanks. I will take this as an advice and try next time. In regards to the line. I have 2 baitcaster sets and two old spinning sets. Baitcaster are equiped with 20pound fluro and 40 pound braid right now. Spinning is 6 pound fluro (finesse) and 12 pound mono for regular stuff. I am a little bit afraid to put 10pound on the baitcaster, since I do get hung up once in a while... does 10 pound make a huge difference to 20 pound? THANKS again for all your help and ideas!

What Am I Doing Wrong? Not Even A Bite (Clear Lake On Sunny Day)
Haha, nice one! Tom, I am making some adjustments to my reel. I am not at the point where I want to invest in a set up for each technique. Also it is a bit cumbersome to carry X rods around as a bank angler. As far as I know it is just regular LMB. But I would think that this fish as well has certain feeding windows. I just saw fish jumping every now and then, which lead me to believe that they were eating, but just not what I was showing them. I have the following swim baits: * Biwa trout (6.5 inch), Biwa RedTiger (5.5 inch), LuckCraft Real Ayu 178 in Shad color, Seven 5.5 in Redhorse and Real Bass. Which one would you use if you can not really determine which bait fish are swimming around. I saw a lot of bluegill swimming around. Not sure abou thte shall cracker. The swimming action of the Seven is pretty cool. I sometimes catch myself thinking "That thing looks like a real injured fish that asks to get eaten..." Probably will try punching as well. I am just a bit concerned that the fish will get spooked too easyily when I am showing up on the bank... What kind of line weight would you recommend? When you do drop shot fishing, how much space do you have from the weight to the hook? On what do you base your decision (when dont know how the bottom structure looks like)?

What Am I Doing Wrong? Not Even A Bite (Clear Lake On Sunny Day)
Hi everybody, thanks for the replies. In regards to the weather: there was no cold front the days prior. Actually the cold front started coming in today (2 days after). In regards to the lure size: I see that point. Though I was also using very small inline spinners. In regards to retreiving speed: so you are suggesting to dramatically slow down the presentation?! My thoughts was to speed them up, to give the bass less time to inspect the lure. In regards to colors: so more pumpkin, watermelon? In regards to the line: Is 20# Fluro too thick for clear water? I guess I have to play around more with my soft plastics. THanks.

What Am I Doing Wrong? Not Even A Bite (Clear Lake On Sunny Day)
Hi there, I would consider myself a decent bass angler. Nothing spectacular but on a normal day, I catch my fish. Though lately I got skunked too often. Now I am at a point to ask for feedback from the community to see if there is anything obvious that I am missing. Here the story of the day. I went out to a Reservoir Lake in Marin County, CA. The lake is relatively small but does not seem to have a lot of fishing pressure. Today's temperature was around 85 degrees, I would say the water was around 65-75. The lake is pretty clear (you can see at least 10 feet wide). On the shore it has a lot of weeds and hydrilla. There was little to no wind. I brought my baitcaster that has 20pound Saegar Red Label on it (I use a snapp swifel on it) and my light spinning gear with 6 pound fluro on it. I was fishing from 2-6pm. Techniques that I tried: With the baitcaster: Spinner bait (used both silver and gold. Silver I used willow and colorado blades. For the Gold I just used willow blades. Skirts were white (for the silver) and orange for the golden one.)I used different techniques: top water, let it sink to the bottom and retrieved it. Let it move up and down while retrieving it) Swimmbait (Biwa Seven Redhorse)Different styles. Twitching it and slowly retrieving it Buzzbait (with bluegill skirt. Used it with and without keitech big impact tail)Techniques: Similar to Spinnerbait JigsPitching it in the Hyrdilla, Dragging and jumping it on the bottom Frog over the hydrilla (different retrieve cadences) Mouse over the hydrilla (different retrieve cadences) With Spinning set up (6# fluro) : Worm with red/grey/ pumpkin/ watermelon color and weightless drop shot with same worms I put garlic scent on the lures, nothing helped. I saw big bass literally swimming by my lure without even looking at it. What am I doing wrong? What am I missing? Thankful for any tips or constructive criques. Thank you!!!! Cheers, Seb.

Keep Loosing The Brake Knob
Hi guys, after fishing with spinning reel, I bought my first baitcaster the other day. A Abu Garcia Baitcaster Pro Max. As far as I can tell the combo is a decent entry for someone like me and I already caught my first bass with it. Now here is the problem. I keep on loosing the Brake Know (and all the tiny pieces) that are in it. I am already on my second replacement parts. How do you guys prevent this from happening? For me the Brake Know is pretty loose (since I dont want to have much Brake Power at all on the line). But to loosen the line, I have to completely open the Brake Knob. Which makes it ultimately easier to come off after a while. What can be done here? I really do not want to spend 10 USD each time I go fishing... Thank you very much for your help. Best, Seb.
