Yeah that's about the biggest I've ever pulled out of Gardner.

Wyandotte County Lake this afternoon, water temps were 56-57, super clear with a green tint. Got a bunch of 1s and 2s, and several 3+. Protected pockets and a red with dark back crankbaits were the deal.

I'm going to have a noob in the boat with me this Saturday and would really like for him to catch some fish. I was thinking about hitting up Prairie Lee Lake, as it typically has good numbers, has anyone been there recently? Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks.

What are the water temp, clarity, etc. like at Gardner?

Yeah I've fished there, great for numbers with tons of 1 - 2 # fish, but no real size. I mostly fished it during the summer, and jigs/plastics in and around the vegetation was the deal. No experience during the colder months.

While I've never owned one myself, I have fished out of a friend's Ranger (whatever their fish-n-ski model is called). It's a Ranger, so very nice boat and he obviously had the same general pros/cons that Micah stated (the happy wife and kids was a biggie). However, I noticed a couple of additional cons that, as a bass boat owner, I would not be happy with (keep in mind I do not have a wife/kids to keep happy): Windshield - while a windshield is very nice during cold weather, I felt that it sometimes got in the way when casting. Front/Back Deck - I'm sure there's a nautical term for this but, where the hull rises above the front and rear fishing platforms is very high on fish/ski boats. Obviously because they have to pull double duty as a sitting area, but I mean around twice as high as would be seen on the highest true bass boat, upwards of 8"-12". This made things a little difficult when pitching/flipping as well as when working a topwater or jerkbait. Also, the shallow access is diminished somewhat. These are just some of my observations from fishing out of a fish/ski and the concept lends itself towards some compromises. As the old saying goes, happy wife = happy life, so these cons are probably a small price to pay in the long run.

I was catching several good fish off a lipless but that was back in November, and when it was happening the bite window was very small.

Well, that's all I need to hear to clock out early. That sounds like an incredible day of fishing, well done.

Hey everyone, I'm a noob to the forum and pretty much a noob to bass fishing. But needless to say it's quickly become an obsession. Went out to Longview Lake last night after work. Never considered Longview as much of a fishery but it's close to my boat storage so figured I'd kill some time. Ended up yanking these in on a 10" purple worm texas rigged. Had several more but only took a picture of these.
