Lost A Fish On My Frog....what Happened?
Lost a fish on my frog....what happened? So I'm fishing my trusty frog and I start burning it back in and I see a 2lb bass hit it, he misses, so I freeze the frog, slowly start to reel it...then Mr. Bass hits it again and takes it down under. I give it a short pause, then a half hearted hook set ( I didn't want to pull the fish completely out of the water and flying by my head, he was literally just a couple feet in front of me). I start reeling again now and he breaches the water and I see my frog is not IN his mouth, but outside, and I'm thinking that I'll be lucky to land this one, and just like that he's off the hook and gone. Did I set the hook too soon or not hard enough? Or does this kinda thing just happen sometimes? I feel like I didn't set the hook hard enough, but I really don't know. Thanks for your comments.

Foul Hooked
I've seen many a fish swim and displace a lure with a "swipe" by. Probably done out of curiosity. I would be happy to have a 4lb bass at tbe end of my line though...foul or not!

Question About Keeping Fish In Livewell....not In A Tournament Situation
That's not nearly as cruel to fish as filleting them alive. I kill my fish first.

Joining Braided Lines....
No kidding, ya don't say? That's the question that I am asking what the best solution is.

Joining Braided Lines....
I never used backing to begin with. I used part of a 150 yard spool. I would guess that I initially put on 70 to 90 yards of braid to start with. I still have a bit left on the original spider wire spool. I put as much on as the "old pro" that i know recommended.

Joining Braided Lines....
Then when I cast far, some of the line lying on the water would be mono and other braided. Is that alright? What test strength mono should I use? 30 or higher?

Joining Braided Lines....
I probably didn't put enough of the braid spool on my baitcaster and now when I cast it goes to the end of the spool on my reel. How should this be fixed? Should I remove all remaining line and start over or should I just add some more with a double fishermans knot? 30 lb braided on my 7'med heavy carbonlite/pro qualifier set up fyi. Very happy with it all so far. Thanks. -it took several weeks of use before the line got this short.

How Do You Prepare
I take two rods minimum and a cooler, paddle, Ahab sup, tackle rack, water, and a small tackle box. If I want more hassle I can always take my fish finder and battery. I usually go if I feel like I can get 2 or more hours of fishing in.

Bass Pro Shops Flourocarbon/mono Line/is It Any Good?
I did not like the 17lb mono that came on my rod combo. I was much happier with a different type of line altogether.

Late Summer Lunker Bass Video
Super tight video bro. Too bad it won't get much appreciation on a site like this, but it's sweet. Gonna watch it a second time with my gf here in a minute. Fish floppin around in slow mo still look blazin fast. Mad artwork.

500W Rms Sonar Only Consumes 5W Of Power?
Well I did see power rating was dependent on transducer model and depth. That helps a little.
-
500W Rms Sonar Only Consumes 5W Of Power?
The 43dv comes with a transducer that apparently has three frequencies, 455, 77, 200...something like that iirc. I think they are all in khz, but not positive. I hook up a 12v 9ah battery to it and it will go for hours and hours and hours.

500W Rms Sonar Only Consumes 5W Of Power?
I typed it exactly correct. Box says minimal consumption of 3 watts or 5 watts, but it brags that the sonar is 500w rms. I too am an engineer and I would be very interested to see how this actually works. The unit doesn't get hot, so it's not using any appreciable energy, it lasts for days on my 9ah battery, but the instructions clearly show 500w rms powerful transducer.

500W Rms Sonar Only Consumes 5W Of Power?
Garmin 43dv. Paperwork says something like 5w power consumption. It's more or less verified by usage records from my 9ah battery.
