I feel u bro. 12 weeks at my lake and 2 or 3 lb bass is biggest I've ever caught...with LOTS of fishing... 1 day at a permit reservoir and 5.5lb bass!

Almost all of mine come 6-8pm. I fish from 3pm to 9pm most often.

That's not terrible advice, that's the advice people give who are tired of setting a hook only to have the frog come flying by their face. When the frog is gone it's NOT always in the fished mouth, that's the problem. I've never missed a hook up by waiting too long, but I've missed a bunch by not waiting long enough.

Bass pro shops in Leeds Al carries infinity bass fishing items. Local wal mart carries almost nothing by comparison. Neither store however, carries a jig with a double weed guard.

The biggest 16.5" fish I caught has been 2lb 8oz. The 18.5" fish was 2lb 13oz. I would guess that 17" was more like that range.

U sure 17.25" is 3+ lbs?

I think that waiting until you can feel the fishes weight may yield the best hook up. I have to let some fish have time to eat the frog twice. They don't have binocular vision like we do. They miss a lot, you have to stop the bait as soon as they try to hit it, or at least slow it down. A 5.5lb fish that I caught the other day needed 2 swipes to get it, and I would have missed him had I done my typical 1, 2 hookset routine.

Frogs have ruined me. I prefer them to anything else now.

Ones that don't break and are light strong and comfortable. You want a quality tool in your hands.

I just fished a permit required lake and it has very little traffic. I was expecting a bunch of bites. After 11 weeks of tough river fishing I wanted to lay down bucks $$ to get a piece of this exclusive action. What I got was one fish in three hours of fishing. That fish was the absolute biggest monster fish I've ever caught or laid eyes on. It was 5+ lbs. In the prior 11 weeks of pressured river fishing I never caught more than a 2lb 13oz fish. Is that a coincidence? I don't think so. I'm going back again soon. I want another monster fish.

If a big (biggest) sized fish shows up on 200khz and another one in a different spot on 77khz, they aren't going to be the same species, right? Doesn't that make the air bladder signature species dependent?

They weren't being very careful.

Thanks for a great and informative post wayne. How would I go about fishing that column you show with bait fish and fish feeding? A swimbait run through that mass of bait? A jerkbait?

Hello. My 43dv has 200khz 277khz and 455khzdv. Between the 200 and the 277 some fish appear on one or both. Which fish likely might they be? Or is this a size thing? What dictates which frequency shows which kind of fish? Air bladder composition (fish type) or air bladder size (less likely imo). How do I home in on the species that I'm looking for? BASS!

15 minutes of jig, 15 minutes worm, 15 min spook, move, 30 min toad, 30 min frog, 15 min spook, move, 30 min toad, 15 min jig move 30 min frog- 2 bites. .. under the bridge drop shot 20 min, go home.That's about what yesterday looked like. Two bites came from a frog. No bite on anything else. I'm having trouble finding bites outside of the 6pm to 7pm hours. I have a few 5pm bites, but my fishing gets done from 3 or 4 pm to 7 or 8pm and the bites only seem to come at 6ish. Forgot to add the 15min of crankbait.

I just threw my frog last night and as soon as it hit the water on one cast it was quietly consumed. ..i was so surprised /in disbelief that my hookset was really weak...i was kinda just testing the line...and yep...there was a fish on it...and I lost him! But that only happens a few times in 2 hours...not a dozen like some of these guys are saying. I bet some folks would smoke the competition in some of our tournaments. 50 blow ups in a day surely would yield a big bag of fish.

I never liked mono to start and once I used braid I was set. 3 rods of mine have braid, one has fc.

I've never even heard of that around my lake. I can fish 4 hours and get 4 or 5 "blow ups". Where are these 18 from? My experienced buddies fished all day a few weeks ago for a tourney and got a single 1.5lb fish for weigh in. I've caught 3 good fish in 1.5hours as my personal best. 5.5lbs total. Usually I catch 0 to 2 fish in 2-4 hours of fishing.I know it's not just me either... a tournament at Lake Guntersville last week had a winner of 21lbs in 2 days...my buddy took sixth with 17lbs. On day two they only caught 2 keeper fish...a 5lb and a 2lb. This lake is supposed to be 6th best in the nation for bass. Another guy basically got skunked in 5he tourney. Where are people catching all these fish? Lake Guntersville, Lake Logan Martin, and Henry Neely aren't seeing big fish numbers. You're telling me that Idaho has the bass?

I have some long worm elaztech worms and they do not float. The package says tbey do, the short ones do, but the long ones don't.

Where are you fishing that you get 18 blow ups in a day?
