First Fishing Boat
I would rather spend less than five thousand dollars. I imagine the largest body of water I'd feel comfortable fishing would be lake okeechobee

I've never owned a boat and I want to start off with something. Any recommendations on what to look for and where to begin? Happy Friday-Todd

Help With Purchase Of First Specialty Rod/reel Setup
@rippin-lips ! thanks for your reply I am willing to spend two hundred for a rod and two hundred for a reel. I've been doing a lot of research online and I stopped by Bass Pro today in Dania beach. RW dropped some good knowledge starting with a seven foot medium power rod as a starter point. I found this bass pro rod and what i really like is they have a great warranty and will replace any broken rod. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Extreme-Spinning-Rod/product/1405110731422/ I really like the shimano straidic or the Diawa Procyon as far as reels. Here's another great thing about South Florida. The volume of fishing fresh and salt water. I was also looking at some salt water reels that will be good for fresh water use. Now I would need a different rod because of the different qualities this reel brings. But seems to be a great option. I'm so excited and I'm very grateful for your responses!

Help With Purchase Of First Specialty Rod/reel Setup
@rippin-lips I'd rather not spend more than two hundred dollars on each rod and each reel. I think that'll give me some pretty good options to choose from.

Help With Purchase Of First Specialty Rod/reel Setup
thanks everyone for your response. I haven't considered a 7 foot rod. But, I will consider it now as you mentioned it and after reading more about "power" and "action" defined. @finculture I don't have a favorite at the moment. I realize that spinning reels offer more forgiveness when casting so I'm hoping to set up a quality spinning rod/reel combo for the appropriate tackle and fishing techniques they excel with and then build more rod/reels from there

Help With Purchase Of First Specialty Rod/reel Setup
HI everyone, I'm new to South Florida and would love to take advantage of all of what fishing this state has to offer. Previously I've taken a more casual approach to bass fishing and had one do it all rod/reel combo. I've been reading many posts and articles on this forum and I've found out that there are certain setups for different techniques and lures. I'd greatly appreciate help selecting my first specialty rod and reel. I'd like to stick with a spinning set up. Any thoughts? Thank you everyone and i'm eager to see what amazing things this forum has to offer. -Todd
