  1. Nope I tried it and it didn't work
  2. Hi, I recently purchased a shimano Cardiff 300a and am having issues with it. When I press the thumb bar to engage freespool, the spool won't spin and when you try to spin it, it just goes out of freespool. Anyone have any suggestions?
  3. Im curious about the Shimano corvalus. I'm getting a Dobyns fury 7"9 MH swimbait stick and was going to pair it with a Cardiff but I found a corvalus for $45. Should I go with that? Have you guys used the corvalus before?
  4. I throw swim jigs on a Dobyns Champion 735c with a curado 200e7 which is my jig rod but I usually only use that rod in thick cover. I also throw them on a Dobyns Savvy 734 with a lews bb1 pro. I also throw chatterbaits on that setup. for the swim jigs I use braid and for the chatterbaits I use fc.
  5. Hey guys, I'm not sure if any of you guys have heard of a stupid tube rig, but it is a technique used mainly in Indiana. It makes a tube weedless but has a unique action and doesn't sacrifice the action of a traditionally rigged tube. I currently throw mine on a 7" medium heavy fast action st croix premier paired with a stradic 2500 fj. I was wondering if Andy of you guys have used this technique and what setup you throw it on.
  6. I generally fish 4 inch wacky rigs which is a bit smaller than many people. For these, I use a Dobyns savvy 7" medium fast spinning rod with a shimano stradic 2500 fj. I pair this with 10 lb braid and a 10lb leader
  7. Well I was wondering what your options were on the curado 200e7 vs the newer I. I have used the e7 but have seen very little of the i.
  8. I'm not partial to any brand currently and have not used them all... but so far I like shimano the most. For me, they feel extremely well put together and strong. They are also very versatile and can be found in almost any price range. And from what I've felt, most seem pretty smooth to me.
  9. Sorry, didn't see the $150 but in that case I'd go with the Dobyns Fury.
  10. I'd go with a Dobyns Champion 705CB glass. It's a great all around cranking stick with the exception of maybe some deep divers but other than that it's extremely versatile and a great rod.
  11. Currently, I throw chatterbaits on my spinnerbait rod which is a Dobyns Savvy 734. Lately I have heard about using heavier cranking rods for chatterbaits which I feel might be a bit more effective. What do you guys use/recommend?
  12. Is it ok to have bass and FLW on a jersey? Or is that a pretty bad idea? Sorry if this question is stupid!
  13. The reason I wanted them ranked was to hear the opinions of others and to see what they like the best and the worst. Just wanted to hear what others think. personally, I'd rank them as follows chronarch ci4 Curado 200e7 (it is supertuned) scorpion bb1 chronarch 200e7
  14. VERY subjective topic here, but i'll play.... and this is merely my opinion. HOWEVER you rank them, it's one killer collection for a youngster or anyone for that matter! congratulations on a fine stable of reels you have there. i do own the curado 201e and the chronarch ci4+ 151 Thank you, I've been working on building the quantity and quality of my reels for a while. and that is about what I'd rank them so far. Except id rank the Curado higher just because I've tried for so long to get it and it is supertuned.
  15. For me they are fairly new so it would be hard to rank them so early but I wanted to hear others opinions on it
  16. Hey I've got some reels and was wondering if you could rank them from best to worst. Not for any particular technique but the quality in general. The reels are as follows. Shimano Curado 200e7 Shimano Chronarch 200e7 Shimano Chronarch ci4+ Shimano Scorpion HG Lews BB1 pro speed spool
  17. I'd go with the Dobyns savvy. Gary Dobyns managed to get put plenty of strength and sensitivity into a light and balanced rod that is fairly easy on the wallet. Plus they have a good amount of models and they would work well with the techniques you have listed.
  18. Well it depends on where you are but where I'm at it's a bit chilly and I'd say something with a bit more of a finesse presentation. Depending on the conditions a jig could definitely work though so really you should probably try a few things out to figure em out. Good luck and tight lines to both of you!
  19. Thanks for the input it makes sense and just to clarify we planned on the same color and design but totally different logos.
  20. Hey, I just started high school bass tourneys and I have been making jerseys for a while but I was just wondering, should me and my partner have the same jersey as we will fish together throughout high school?
  21. I have a 6"6 medium fast action veritas rod and was wondering if it would be any good for skipping with finesse jigs and wacky rigs. I would have a chronarch 200e7 with 20-30 lb braid and a floro leader paired up with it most likely.
  22. hey I'm able to pick up a reel soon and I'm leaning towards a curado 200e7. Anybody have one? Do you guys like them? how are they compared to the chronarchs or curado Is?
  23. I personally use a Dobyns Savvy 734c which some people say is a bit too heavy... I really like it and rarely miss fish. I was wondering what you guys use for spinnerbaits?
  24. Hey guys, I recently had my entire spinnerbait box stolen. It sucks big time. But... I have heard about people having success with those cheap spinnerbaits from Walmart or in my case, Cabelas. Should I use them until I can get some other spinnerbaits? Anyone have any tuning tips?
  25. Fenwick for spinning Dobyns for casting.
