  1. humid 'n hot as heck last night. Got 4 around this size. A 2-year-old could have taken a sharper pic! This one was 3.8
  2. Hit one of my spots 'round midnight with the handy-dandy thumper. First cast along a wall at the edge of a channel - kaboom! But, she's off in a few seconds after breaking the surface. Second cast - kaboom! I lay into her as she darts towards me. I thought I'd lost her again for a second. She's 5 lbs., exactly.
  3. It ended up that way! I was loosing faith with the spook
  4. Went to my fav spot -- the creek mouth which empties into a large, clear lake. Started with the trusty thumper and hoisted 3 around 3 lbs. Then came this one close to 4. They were all cruisin open water, not stationed at their usual ambush points. I couldn't buy a hit on topwater. I went to a different area, a new place I hadn't hit before from land. I managed to hoist a few on the thumper. After a few surface detonations, it was time for the spook. So, I got my topwater rig, worked the SS several times......kaboom! She was pushing 5.
  5. Okay, well I used 3/4 oz. spinnerbaits w/dual CO blades. One was shad (white, chart. and blue) and the other, purple. Blades are gold on both. The H20 was clear and I was fishing in 8 - 10'. It's a new lake I checked out with my yak. I got 4 bass over 4 lbs. in a few hours, along with a few monster picks which I'm not fond of bringing into my yak. There are much bigger in this lake I'm sure. I still have yet to figure the entire place out. The night spot is a place I fish from shore. I fish a mouth that feeds into a good-sized, clear lake. Bass are always around if conditions are favorable. I've poked many 5s from there.
  6. Hit a new promising lake in the a.m. I've gotten several around this size. Gotta love spring. Also hit my favorite night hole.
  7. All great info! For me, I hesitate to leave my house for night fishing if the sky is clear. In my experience, I get jack $hit, especially when it's going from cloudy to clear - rising barometer. The bite just turns off. Also, wind has proven to ruin many an evening for me as well. A sky at least partly cloudy with a very light wind = rig up. If it's just before a rain, even if the wind picks up, the bite can be phenomenal, even during a heavy rain. I've gotten them on every moon phase too, if the above "good" conditions are met.
