  1. Ok thanks for the answers. I figured that the rod might be a bit overpowered for 1/4oz cranks and underpowered for larger baits like 6xd's. The Phenix rods look nice, but I don't like having to pay for warranty repairs (especially 65 bucks). I was mainly looking at the Veritas Winch rods because of the light weight and the 3 year free replacement warranty. Sounds like I might be better off with the 7' medium powered rod which will throw most of my baits easily, and then if I occasionally throw bigger baits like 6XD's or DT16's I will need to put up with a slightly underpowered rod. Thanks again for the input
  2. I am looking for a crankbait rod but I only have a limited amount of room in my boat for rods and I don't usually don't fish with crankbaits much compared to other lures. So I'm trying to find one do-all crankbait rod. I throw shallow cranks down to 1/4oz and deep divers up to 1oz. I know it is nearly impossible to find a rod to cover both ends of the spectrum well but I am considering the 7'11" Veritas Winch Heavy power. It is rated for lures 3/8 to 1.25 ounces. I am hoping the longer length with a moderate action will allow me to throw the light 1/4oz baits reasonably well while maintaining the power for deep divers. Does anybody own this rod that could weigh in? I know I probably won't get the distance with the small cranks that i could with the medium power but do you think it would work for the few times I throw 1/4oz cranks? Or would the 7ft medium be a better all-around rod? Thanks in advance for the advice
