Anyone fish Middle River in MD?
Thanks for the tip!

Who's been out on the Potomac lately?
I did well at the mouth of Mattawoman last weekend. High tide frog bite was very very good. If you are fishing the backs of creeks the frog bite in the pads has been very good as well. If you can fish a Baby 1- through the pads that works great too but the tide has to be pretty high.

Anyone fish Middle River?
I know this belongs in the Northeast board but I know a lot of people who fish the Potomac also fish the Middle River so it was worth a shot. I have a tournament on the middle river on October 10 and i have never fished it before. I will be prefishing on Saturday but if anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Are lure colors and techniques similar to the Potomac? If you don't want to broadcast your spots or techniques please PM me and I will keep your info secret. I fish the Potomac regularly so I will be happy to trade info. I will only be fishing the Middle River this Saturday and next Saturday so you won't have to worry about me hogging your spot :-) I will be launching out of Wilson Point Park. Thanks!!!

Anyone fish Middle River in MD?
I have a tournament in two weeks on the Middle River and I have never fished there before. I am going to head up there on Saturday and pre-fish. Does anyone have any advice? I fish the tidal Potomac a lot, are they similar? What lures and colors are working in the fall? If you don't want to publish your advice PM me and rest assured I won't tell everyone your spot/technique. I will only be fishing the middle river once a year (at most) so you won't need to worry about someone stealing your best spot. I am happy to trade information about the Potomac as well. Thanks! EDIT: I will be launching from Wilson Point Park.

Chickahominy Advice?
I have a club tournament out of Rivers Rest on the Chick next Saturday. I have never fished the Chick and I have no time to prefish. I have the GMCO map and I have been checking out Google Maps, the whole thing looks fishy but I hear that it can be real tough. If anyone could point me in the right direction regarding spots, lure colors, and tactics I would really appreciate it. If you want to keep your spots secret rest assured I will only be there next Saturday (it is a 3 hour drive for me) and will keep them to myself if you PM me. All help is greatly appreciated!

Favorite Dropshot Plastics?
If the bass are not hitting a drop shot zoom finesse worm then they won't hit anything else on a dropshot.

Anyone Fish Conowingo?
I have a tournament at Conowingo Lake next weekend and I will not be able to pre-fish. Does anyone fish that lake and if so what should I expect? I have looked at Google Earth and I figured I would fish Funk and Broad creek but I was intrigued by the upper end of the lake. Does anyone fish up near those islands and if so can a fiberglass boat navigate it safely? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Potomac
The tidal Potomac has been on FIRE recently. If you fish south the mouths of Aquia and Nanjemoy have been good as have arkendale flats, blue banks, and wades bay. Lipless cranks and plastics are the key. If you fish north then Blue Plains, the spoils, piscataway, and belle haven are great right now but can be temperamental. I fished Blue Plains in a tournament last weekend and could not get a keeper to bite (although I saw a ton). Some of the northern creeks (like Broad) were very stained last Sunday and would not produce. I did not try four mile but it would not surprise me if fish are on beds there.

Lake Gaston Question
Hi everyone, I am fishing a tournament on Lake Gaston next Friday and Saturday. I have never fished the lake before so I am leaving Wed night and pre-fishing on Thursday. I expect that the fish are in a pre-spawn mode so I was going to start fishing shallow and move back until I find fish. I have the GMCO map of the lake but the place is so big that I am not sure where to start. If anyone has any experience fishing Gaston in the pre-spawn I would really appreciate some help. No need to give up your honey hole but a point in the right direction would be great. I have heard it is a great place to skip docks but what other type of cover is prevalent? Is it rocky, shallow, stumpy etc? I don't want to make the five hour drive, fish terrible, then have another five hour drive to think about what I should have done :-) I will be launching from this place: http://www.lakegastonresort.com/ Thanks!

bass boats.
1998 Skeeter SS90 16'2" with a 90hp Yamaha 2-stroke. Not the fastest or biggest boat on the Potomac River but gets the job done and my Chevy Equinox can tow it with no problems.

Hello
GREAT THREAD!!! Looks like your son caught a whopper of a fish for his first time out! Regarding wind, often it makes the fishing better as it stirs up the plankton which stirs up the smaller fish and the big fish follow. When it is windy throw your faster moving lures like spinners, cranks, rat-l-traps etc. Worms will still work but you may need to move them faster and fish them shallower depending on the time of year. Best of luck and have fun!

Fishing BFL and need help with RODS??
If possible talk to your boater in advance so you know what techniques and areas he/she plans to fish then plan your rods accordingly. No need to bring a flippin stick if your boater intends on fishing in 25 feet of water....

St.Croix legend tournament Rods!!!!
The Legend Tournament Jerkbait special is an incredible hard jerkbait rod. Since I rarely throw anything else in prespawn or late fall I HAD to have that rod and I am glad I made the purchase.

Anyone try a JB Custom rod?
I went to an outdoor expo a month ago and the only tackle retailer there had a bunch of JB custom rods for sale. I ended up buying a Black Snake 6'6" medium action spiral wrapped casting rod for split-shot and light texas rigs. What sold me on it was when the dealer put it in my hand and put a GLX jig & worm rod in my other hand, he then lightly touched a dollar bill to each tip and the JB blew the Loomis away (and I LOVE Loomis rods). I used it for the first time on Sunday in a local pond and I was absolutely blown away by the sensitivity. For $215 it was the most sensitive rod I have ever used (and I own two GLX's, numerous E21's, numerous St. Croixs and a Dobyn's 705C). I swear I could feel fish breathing on the lure. I have no affiliation with this rod maker but I am seriously considering putting a few of my high end rods up for sale so I can get more of these babies! When I get home I will post a picture of this beauty with my new Curado. http://www.custombassrods.com/ Has anyone else ever used one? I am curious how the heavier action rods are since I would like to get a new jig rod and a new carolina rig rod.

Motor Guide or Minn Kota
I currently own a Motorguide Wireless W75 and I absolutely hate it. It beeps all the time, it is not as smooth as the cable-steer motors, and it has broken three times in one season (including one time where the lower unit fell off the shaft on plane!). That being said I intend on buying a motorguide tour edition 70 when BPS has their big sale at the end of the month. I have used them on friends' boats and they are smooooth.

inflatable
I fished out of a Sea Eagle 9 exclusively for two years and had a lot of fun with it. They are great little boats but I upgraded to a Skeeter ;D I still have the SE-9 at my grandparents beach house for fishing local ponds and it still does a great job! I pushed it with a 55lb Minn Kota and it would really haul!

what is your top megabass, lucky craft, sebile lure?
I like the LC Pointers but my favorite jerkbait is the Megabass X80 TrickDarter. That thing cathes TONS of fish.

Fishing Seminar for DC Area Anglers, Featuring John Crews!!
For those of you who fish the Potomac as often as I do, the segments by Steve Chaconas should be EXTREMELY helpful when it comes to finding fish on the river.
