Thanks for the responses. The reason I asked is because it wasn't casting far at all and I just learned today that this reel had external and internal brakes. Sure enough every internal brake was turned on.

Is there an easy way to remove the brake side plate side? Or do I have to remove the handleside to get the brake side off?

Fishing shows are not just a camera man filming some one fishing for only 30 mins.... Of course the clouds are going to change because some of the shows take a couple of days to get the footage that they want.. I think most shows now a days are legit.... But i do think they pre hooked fish in one of scott martins shows for one of his sons.

when i bought my bass boat they actually gave me 1 that i have never used and dont even want it...... im not around it now but when i get a chance i can measure it and let you know about the 1 i have.

I just got my new motor guide that i ordered last week... I cant wait to use it, it looks sweet. When i go to mount it should i fill the old holes in the boat from my old trolling motor with something? If so, what?

I ended up getting the motorguide. I just wanna thank every one for there input and advice. It helped make my decision a little easier.

Is it worth it to pay the extra money to get the 20.8 gator breakaway mount rather than the regular mount?? also is it worth the extra money to get the digital rather than the regular motor???

i am not brand loyal at all. I like to try all the reels. i dont have a pfleuger yet but the patriach looks very tempting to me.

i was looking at motorguides earlier. what is the difference between the standard foot control model and the digital one?(and by digital i dont mean the wireless one).... by the way RockvilleMdAngler i actually live in rockville MD but my thing says lake anna because i go down there to a family vacation home to fish every weekend.
