  1. I hate catching underwear, I've always preferred briefs.
  2. It's a great rod for any finesse/bottom contact presentations you would want. I'm guessing the knot quote is from something else.....but just for the heck of it, I use a uni uni know for braid to fluoro leaders.
  3. I can also vouch for the St Croix Legend Tournament Bass 610mxf. It's called their "shakey head" rod. Its super sensitive, very light weight and comfortable in the hand. It's an extra fast action but can cast extremely well. It never had any issues with 1/8 oz jigs depending on the plastic used, or any 3/16 or 1/4 oz jigs. The sensitivity is awesome. I love feeling every pebble and stick I drag my lure over when fishing bottom contact lures like shakey head's or tubes. Made in the USA too with an awesome guaranteed warranty.
  4. Seaguar InvizX is reccomend a lot (on here too) as a main line. It's apparently very manageable and strong. I've just never had issues with Sniper and needed to change. It lasts for ages too when used in segments as leader material. The only bummer is I bought it when I wasn't sure what to do with it and it 12#. Now that I use it a ton Id prefer 8# or 10#.
  5. Haha I only have 3....wasn't there
  6. I only use fluorocarbon for leaders with braided line, but can vouch for Sunline's abrasion resistance. I've used it for 3 seasons on my spinning setups with any and all finesse and bottom contact lures. I fished a lot of tubes and craws last season in rocky rivers and the Super Sniper held up great. It frayed very rarely and it took a lot to make it. The knot strength is great too, pretty much the same as any mono I use. And that's with a trilene knot, palomar and uni to uni knot. I even had the braid snap while freeing a snag before the fluoro or the knot did.
  7. An old Elite blows most rods out of the water anyway haha.
  8. Oooooo....a new 2016 one?
  9. Sounds like you've got plenty of variety. I've never fished clay bottom as far as I know. Plenty of muck and gravel here though.
  10. I don't have any experience in tackle making, but I could get lost for days in there learning how. What a perfect place for you're passion, and so well organized.
  11. Ooooo that's a gorgeous looking spot. The water is so green too! How's the clarity and bottom composition?
  12. I like pfluegers lower tier models as great bang for the buck. But I don't like the high end Patriarch as much. I had a chance to use a friends extensively. I don't like the lack of long term durability he experienced. I know it's all subjective to how well you take care of and treat your things, but it worries me. Also shimano has been very highly reccomended to me since I first started fishing and I've always wanted to try one out. A new, high end, durable, smooth reel seems like a good bet. Hence the decision between the FK and Ci4+. I think it's gonna come down to which feels best in hand. I've never held them one after the other and know some reels just feel wierd if they're very different feeling than Pfleugers.
  13. As the title suggests, I'm in the market fr some rod holders for my Old Town Osprey Canoe. I currently use a 3 rod setup and would be hoping for 3 holders, whether it's a 3-in-1 or 3 seperate. One thing I like the look of is angled holders, to avoid snagging overhead trees. What do you guys reccomend? I have zero experience customizing a canoe and have had it bare bones since I got it 3 years ago. Also, I'd like something within reason. I don't have a ton of money to spend and am just trying to get an idea of what works well and isn't just junk. Thanks for any input!
  14. In all likelihood, I would be changing drag washers based on if it needs it or not. Chances are I will use them until they need replacing.
  15. Thanks DVT, if/when I do it, what does the whole thing cost? I don't know much about drag washers....or install prices.
  16. Very good review. It has me a bit worried about the drag, but by the sound of it, you tested it under MUCH more strenuous circumstances than I'll be fishing. I fish freshwater for smallmouth, largemouth, pike and walleye mainly. There are some larger pike and the occasional muskie or catfish, but no major line peelers. My main concern is I have NO experience customizing a reel's drag. Idk how well it would go. Thanks for the link and the thorough review!
  17. Yeah, and I've never had an issue with Mustad hooms, so I'm happy with what I pay for. I really like his Sniper jugs. I definitely know where I'm going when I need more or bulk. How many are you referring to when you say "quantity?"
  18. Hmmm, good to know. Hey Mike Siebert, we should be friends.
  19. Thanks guys! Can't wait to read these after work
  20. I love Kalin's grubs. One of the best lures I've used.
  21. Hey everyone, I've been seeing a lot of you saying you have or are getting the new Stradic FK. What's your opinion of them so far? Anyone use them a bunch on the water yet? I ask because I'm thinking of getting one and am still in the research phase. I've always used inexpensive Pfleuger Presidents and the Shimanost "feel" so odd in my hands compared to Pfleugers.
  22. Lots of good info here. I can relate too, I've never had a "boat," just a canoe. I've spent my fair share of time beating the bank too. Sometimes it's an adventure on part with LOTR just to get to that one perfect looking spot. Some of my favorite and most effective presentations are: 1) spinnerbaits are super effective, versatile and rarely snag. 2) inline spinners (aglia) although it's much less weedless so it helps to be familiar with the water and know "snaggy" spots. 3) tubes/craws on weedless jigs. These became my goto and biggest producer last year based on effectiveness and how snag less they are. Nothing worse than snagging and not having the canoe to paddle over and get free easily.
  23. I'm guessing MOST things were cheaper in 1982. I wouldn't know personally, seeing as I wasn't born until 7 years after that haha. Still, I can't imagine paying 8$ for a jig either. Siebert has pretty d**n good prices especially considering the hand tied quality. I've been pleasantly surprised.
  24. I think you win.
  25. I have a few new goals after hearing everyone elses: -actually USE all the tackle I bought this winter to leanr. Things like dropshot (completely new to me), finesse jigs, etc. -go on fishing trips. Whether it's a full blown 3 hr drive campout, or a day trip to a new lake. -catch a 5# smallie -get reacquainted with my small local lake. I grew up fishing it and have stopped canoeing it. You don't get the full effect from shore.
